For crystals, wouldn't you consider glass to be the cheapest? And I'm pretty sure the symbol from Tenebrous is supposed to be an eclipse. I forget the term for the beads of sunlight that will slip past, but I doubt that's intended to be a star.

Good point! Thanks for pointing that out. I've updated the list.

Oh right, and the cheapest source of Mortus, but only for the Crucible, is yourself. It's a little hard to gauge how much you've put in at any given point without throwing in another ingredient to update the display though.

You know you can spawn in a "Cheat Sheet" thauminomicon that gives you all of the recipes right? Other than that, this is pretty nice :) I hope it stays updated.

for lux simple torches work fine as well.
for motus you can also use doors, better trap doors. boats look like the cheapest/best thing to make though.
for instrumentum you can use any tools.
for tutamen it's cheapest to use leather without crafting it into armor.
and making glass into glass panes for vitreus is even cheaper. 12 -> 16

ShattForte. I was just about to put nearly the same type of list into the FTB wiki, and Morv pointed my to this thread. Are you opposed to the wiki team using your list on the wiki? If not I'm happy to go do the research myself, but it would save us a lot of time to use your list as a starting point.

Congratulations, you go in the guide thread now.

Why thank you!

That's a-ok to me, my friend.

Bowls are a MUCH better source of vacuous than chests (8 wood for 4 vac (chest) vs 3 wood for 4 vac (bowls, 4 bowls per 3 wood)). Hell, I'd consider it the "cheapest" too (easy to obtain wood that is infinitely renewable vs ores that need to be "refined" in a way and are limited? simple choice here).

Personally, I wouldn't have made the "cheat" thaumonomicon an instaunlocker for all research, but a cheatsheet telling you what you do need to research to get each item, but oh well, it is an impressive system, and much better than the ThC2 was (which could have been resumed into "feed cobblestone to the research block you have surrounded with bokshelves or brain-in-a-jar, easy to automate with BC pipes).

Is there a cheatsheet somewhere for what the icons on the research screen are, and what needs to be done in order to research them? Because of my unfamiliarity with all this, it just seems so random. Drop random things on the research table, and keep pressing the magnifying glass and hopefully something comes out of it...

Mutatio is such a pain in the ass. I'd rather not cause wisps to spawn, and the only nether fort I've found had no netherwart XD

I suspect basalt would have the fire aspect and marble would have the wealth aspect. They make sense, right? Other than those and the rock aspect... hard to say.

Azanor, unless he gets his API going and passes the API off to Eloraam. I think.
I *think* I've seen some mod items with aspects that don't have crafting recipes, but... maybe I should doublecheck.

Edit: Steel already has its own aspects, but other Railcraft stuff does not. I guess he's added aspects to things in Forge's ore dictionary... which may mean marble and basalt is included.

Ehh, it's really, really, really, reaaallly crappy looking but here. All the research titles are there. Maybe that will help with your research? I'm too lazy to make the paths a darker color so you can see it well. If you zoom in enough you can see it though...IDEK why I didn't use black text. *headdesk*

Read at your own risk.

To-do: Make a nice little cheat sheet depicting what icon is for what aspect.
