Similar story:
-First 1.2 character
-Just went into hardmode
-Checking out Crimson cave to see new mobs
-ER MAH GERD ICHOR STICKLER
-Drops Ichor and some stupid key thing
-Three days later, hardmode dungeon
-Carrying key just in case
-Crimson chest, crapy loot (one 40-damage weap, lame)
-Necromancer teleports next to me
-CRAP SPAMCLICK
-Instantly dies
-.....mother of god
This was right when 1.2 came out so I didn't know about Vamp Knives beforehand and all.
-First 1.2 character
-Just went into hardmode
-Checking out Crimson cave to see new mobs

Nah, remember that this was right when 1.2 came out. All I had at the time was full melee Hallowed Armor, Legendary Excalibur and a Mushroom Spear. Didn't even have a Charm of Myths or Cross Necklace yet because Mimic spawns suck in 1.2.

I have plenty of your probes' eyes embedded in my Murderous Terra Blade. Want to have another go, good sir?
I already have 14 plat.
On another note, I got stuck with the old, boring Corruption, and thus won't be able to get Vampire Knives (I tend to stick with 1 character/world).
I hear they're epic.Don't worry, you get the nearly-as-broken Scourge of the Corruptor, which is basically the end-all spear. And it shoots projectiles which bounce off walls. It's like if you crossed Terra Blade and Necromancer Staff and made it free with no CD.
Anyone found a rod of discord yet? Rare drop from Chaos Elementals.

I recently got terraria in the steam sale. Hardmode is kinda annoying - titanium is too rare, meaning the game is artificially drawn out when it doesn't need to be. Still good though. I got the megashark last night. That + crystal bullets =
Also, I wouldn't call the scourge of the corruptor broken at all. It has a nice ability, but its damage isn't that good. The terra blade is a lot stronger. Hell, even my trusty megashark has much better dps (though I am specialising as a range build).
EDIT: Has anyone got a terraria server I could go on? I just want to see what everyone else has built

Scourge of the corruptor is actually better than the terra blade, its normal attack should be 80, but if you crit, you can get over 100, that means with that and about 100 more damage from its small eaters, yu get a total of 140 damage or so, Terra blade is better for melee, though i think Vampire Knives are more preferable by most people.
Haven't got vampire knives yet, though i've heard they're the most broken thing ever despite the nerf. Are they?

Turtles and hardmode dungeon everything. I have godly VKs/turtle armor and still die in that hellhole.
Scourge of the Corrupter isn't really good because of straight-up DPS, it's good because it's pretty much outright broken in PvP and really strong in caves/dungeon for item farming.
