Hey everyone. Recently I've noticed that my Thermal Expansion machines are ALWAYS drawing energy from my redstone energy cell even if their energy buffer's are full and nothing is smelting/pulverising etc. Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm stumped and at this point throughout the game I cannot afford to lose this energy :/
Thanks! :')

Is your energy cell feeding into itself? Since there is 5% loss in the conduit if a cell feeds back into itself it will happily drain down to 0.

Are you sure it is TE? I've never had this happen with TE stuff. Some Forestry stuff and almost all of the ExtraBees stuff will draw power indefinitely.

In any case I'd take my trusty crescent hammer and flip the conduit connection on each one until I found which machine was doing it.

Rolling Machine constantly draws power.
Thermionic Emancipator Does too (heh, sp). Some machines just do that. What machine is doing it to you?

Railcraft's rolling table has a case of 'eat all your energy' along with the Forestry stuff. Irritating as hell, since it has an energy bar, like the Extra Bees stuff. Truly TE has spoiled me, with it's sensible handling of energy.

TE isn't the culprit here. You may have an energy loop with a Redstone Energy Cell, however - and that's on you. ;) Good news is, these loops no longer exists in 1.5+ due to new Framework stuff.
I'm so excited! Many of the TE builds I want to make cannot be made w/o serious loss in the current system.

The conduits have a buffer amount inside each of them. Perhaps set them down, wait for a bit, and check if it is still happening. I am not sure what the energy amount is per conduit.

Ahh found the problem! I had a rolling machine wired up in my machine room, seemed to have been constantly drawing power :')
Thanks for the help everyone!

Yup, that will do it. I always make sure to put my rolling machine on a conduit off by itself so I can hammer it when I need it and hammer it again when I'm done.

I actually use the rolling machine so irregularly that it spends most of the time as an icon in a chest. Guaranteed zero power use.

I used to do that, but then I got into GregTech stuff and need tons of mixed metal ingots all the time. Plus, I keep forgetting which chest I left it in and hate searching for it.

GregTech no longer uses the rolling machine for advanced alloy. Although there is still one or two recipes left for it, like the industrial furnace.

Well, the mixed metal ingots do require the rolling machine. So either IC2 was changed, or GregTech changed it. I suppose RailCraft could have made the change but I didn't think RailCraft made those sorts of changes to other mods recipes.

I swear, Railcraft is the most abusive mod. Its only saving grace is unfairly good powergen and the fact that once you DO finally crawl through the process to make rails the yields per unit are obscenely high. And it's not even like it's neglected. It's come up on streams and the author actually thinks this is the right call.

Railcraft: making Factorization look easy. :D

Yeah I've had this happen all the time with ExtraBees machines but never with TE things.

I find enough rails (for Steve'sCarts treefarming) lying around in abandoned mines :D

Isn't that the Thermionic Fabricator?
