Oh... that's disappointing. I already have a T5 skeleton spawner, I kind of assumed Endermen gave more xp.
Thanks for the help everyone. I'll dismantle the drop chamber and just make one underground for the Ender Pearls.

Kind of a shame really, getting an ender farm was one of the last goals I was aiming for. The only thing left to do in FTB is make stuff with Iridium, but that's not really fun it's just grinding.
You want a blaze spawner for double xp

I have to admit, drowning creepers in quicksand is disturbingly satisfying. Then again, my hatred for creepers is only eclipsed by my hatred for Tolkien's elves, so I take a kinda sadistic pleasure in killing the little bastards in as brutal a manner as I can possibly devise. I'm thinking my next creeper farm will be like this...

Code:
LLLL
WWWW

L = Lava; W = Water

With all liquids suspended by lovely ladders. If I can find a way to have lava adjacent to water without them turning to cobble or obsidian, I'm gonna do it...kill em slowly and painfully.

Ya know, I think I might have some minor psychological problems, lol.

[ETA]
I wonder if a similar design would work for farming slendermen for drops...I want experience, I want to get it the old fashioned way, killing every hostile mob I can see with a heavily-enchanted diamond sword.

So I've done some experimenting and I've discovered that Endermen can teleport through corners of water walls. What I mean by that is if the wall of water surrounding your drop tower and killing-field has areas like the following(picture's view point is from above looking down or below looking up), Endermen can teleport out:

View attachment 2038

EnderMunchers can teleport to any qualified block, regardless of LOS. and one of the few unqualified targets is a water source or flow block. Their range is pretty big too, but manageable in a void age, or in a significantly quarried out section of a main world. Solve the pesky bedrock issue with a RP pump and an annoying ocean :)

Xisuma has a mythbuster vid on their teleport mechanics that's an interesting watch.

For those that care, here's a T5 Ender farm (It's a zipped world map), which afaik, doesn't allow escapes.

Please note I did it in DW20. You'll need the following mods:
redpower 2 - Used for on/off and xp/item switches
Mystcraft - Used for the entrance. Allows for complete encasement of the farm tower
Soul Shards (ofcourse)

Question: If anyone knows how to stop the squid spawns, I'd be GREATFUL

Eloraam made an Endermen mob trap with a t5 spawner. It is out there if you know where to look.
(don't ask me I can't remember) All I recall is it's not on youtube it's on a recoreded livestream. Maybe on Florastars channel. If it helps narrow it down Dire, lex, Elo, Alex, Fauna, Flora were online and Elo was showing some of them.

The spawner was on the ground in a room 2 blocks high. The ceiling was made out of quicksand. The Endermen spawned in this space and suffocated. I guess the quicksand was counted as air or something for spawning.
Keep in mind this was a long time ago, The mechanics could of changed but imo worth a try as it's so simple.
No surrounding with water, no drops, no teleporting. Of course no XP either. (though you could surround with turtles that kill before they suffocate)
It wont surprise anyone to know she used transposers on the floor to collect loot.

Edit: Ifound it. (was more people than I remember) You can find what I am talking about at 04:01:17 http://www.twitch.tv/florastar/b/338371027

I believe you're thinking of the last run the Forgecraft server had. It was also Direwolf20's SMP season 3 and Elo had an ender pearl collector in her giant castle right next to the blaze rod collector. :)

You can actually suspend liquids with RP2 Cover Strips (I like Glass Cover Strips). Far superior to signs/ladders, since you can mount them in the air, not attached to anything.

Just make rows of them (don't really need a grid, since you can "walk" on cover strips).

Makes for very cool lava ceilings for houses. Built-in lighting, with a slight element of danger. Just don't jump. Or build your house out of wood.

BTW: If you want to be extra-evil, do Lava, then Quicksand, then 2 layers of Water, so the bastards can't swim upward and get air. You could probably even just set the Lava on top of the Quicksand without cover strips.

Quicksand floats. Lava on top is easy.
Yeah, the bad thing about the Lava - Quicksand - Water thing is all the creepers will probably die from the lava since they sink too slowly in the Quicksand, making the water pointless :(

You'd want to do: Lava - (Cover Strips / Air Gap) - Quicksand - Water - Water

Then you get enjoyment from a multitude of different deaths (including some that don't fall between the cover strips, instead landing on one and burning to death).

Nice, thanks for the tip didn't think of that. Glass cover strips just added to my arsenal.

Hi there everyone, thought i'd sign up to show the solution i've been using for this.

It all starts with your basic big spawn box, with a slanted roof, like so :

xge1KS1.jpg

On the inside, a fairly simple setup with two tier 5 enderman spawners, vines coming from the slant in the roof, using string to stop the vines going past a certain point, this is to ensure all the endermen are a one hit kill.

KCqysA7.jpg

Moving downwards, on the floor I have a load of Aerial Faith Plates from the portal gun mod like so

lm0dc7I.png

They are all setup like this

qWdAnIP.png

And they all land next to my handy attack turtles for xp harvest

Ren98Zr.png

Before the latest update the jar could hold seemingly infinite numbers of levels, but since the update it stops at 30, This design could do with a small update to get a few more Jars in.

Hope this is of some use to some of you :D

Edit: Forgot to mention I havent bothered to collect the pearls from the turtles in this instance, because i have a tonne of them ,in this case there is lava behind the attack turtles where all the pearls are getting thrown.

Nice!

The upcoming DW and MC packs both have the udpated version of computercraft which has an XP storage upgrade for turtles. I don't know if its limited like the brain in a jar, but it looks promising.

Awesome. I've been waiting to see somebody incorporate faith plates in a mob grinder. :)
