Interesting. Sounds fun. Im exploring now for clay. Ugh. This is harder then finding gold, diamonds and rubber. Stupid brick.

I must ask. How do solar panels work? I finally made 2. (Insert woohoo here). And I do have them powering an electrical engine to power my furnace. Yesyes, I know, small. But Ima end up building more solar panels but Im unsure exactly how they power something when using more then one. Atm I have my cheap cables connected under each solar panel and then extending to my engine. But if I were to get like 5 or so, do they each power each other? So say I had this arrangement, looking head down at it

Could I attach just cabling to the middle one and it'd transfer power from all 5? Or do I need some convoluted mess of cables under each one to the center one and then 1 cable from there to whatever engine Im using.

Basic answer, convoluted mess of cables under each one.

The solar panels don't output into each other, they'll output into cables and machines but not generators (such as themselves). Be careful of cables that have energy loss, because after a certain distance they lose EU, and since these things are only generating one EU/t, that doesn't get very far..
It'd be good to get the solars to output into a batbox, and from there to your machines.

Yepyep. Sorta figured that. This is addictive. oo;
Built 9 solar panals so far. Got a generator and some geothermal energy. Built a MFE(I think thats what its called. Batbot upgrade), built a few more machines. Used up all my ore. >.> But its fun! Granted all my setups suck. But now that I also have a mining turtle I think Ima go explore more and see what other stuff I can do. Thanks you guys for the help.

Sounds like you're doing fine. If you think your setup sucks, you should have seen my first setup (it was in tekkit, though). It would be enough to make you cry tears of blood.

I could imagine what peoples first setups were like if I think mine is horrible. I want to learn other mods too though. Is there a general catchall for where I could learn other mods? The influx of info is astounding, but I found a village and stole their bee hives. >.> I also wanted to learn more about enchanting since Im sitting on 45 levels now. <.<; If I die, I will be very disappoint.

enchanting is the same as vanilla.
As for my first setup: I thought every machine required its own generator and they required wires on every side except the front.

Never enchanted in vanilla. <<; Thinking about Thaumcraft too. Finding so much silverwood trees and I believe they deal with each other. Man, FTB ultimate has so much stuff.

Make enchanting table, toss in item, click button. How enchanting.
My advice: take it slow. Think of a projerct (ex: large storage room) and see what mods you can integrate into it (ex: factorization barrels, rp2/bc sorting from input chest, ae 'show' room). If you feel overwhelmed just do a smaller/simpler project. You aren't required to use every mod from day 1 or even at all.

Today was awesome. Found out that tree houses dont mesh with lava. So after fighting a fire in a snowstorm, I picked up the pieces and moved my base.

Then I made a whole bunch of other machines, crafted my power armor, cried because I have no emeralds and wondered wtf do I do with the oil from my coke coal machines, how do I get the pieces for a laser/drill/saw/whatever. And other crap. Jesus, and I remember when the game was about finding just ore. Im tempted to try the forest or nether next though. So much to do, so little time.

you can use the creosote oil in boilers or to make wooden ties for rail bed
Edit: I find that desert/jungle temples are easier to find than extreme hills biome.

Yeah. Found a village. One guy wanted 24 paper for an emerald. Cha Ching

That said. Question, using FTB ultimate and my power suit doesnt have a rail gun option. is it not in ultimate?

Quick backstory. Im new to FTB, well not new but I never used machines or anything outside of vanilla before. Decided to try it. Finally built a pulverizer and after managing to power it up(Woohoo moment here), I decided I wanted to be lazy. Wherein came a small problem.

1) Is there a way to place a chest under a pulverizer or any machine? They dont open with a block ontop of them, but maybe Im missing something.

2) Is there a way to have a chest feed into a machine. I like exploring myself and mining out caves but I dont have time to wait for 1 stack of ore to pulverize and then manually replace it. Ive been fiddling with pipes and chests and what not. Hopper didnt work cause it just chunked everything in at once and clogged the machine.

And I guess thats it for questions. Now that Im not as intimidatied by machines by before, minecraft became more fun(Turning off gregtech recipes helped).

I guess a third question. How/where do I get rubber? Im making a tree house(Go away =() and I figured I could use solar panels for energy rather then burn coal and what not. But Ive never seen rubber, hell I dont even know what to look for.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: A fourth question. Is there a reason why there is 2-3 different coppers, silvers, etc? Its mildly annoying to think Im grabbing iron and instad grab silver.. then silver again.. and again.

1. You can use an enderchest under anything as it will open anyway.

2. You could also configure the machine to automaticly pull ores out of the enderchest that you put in with an enderpouch while mining, the machine will fill up with as much as it can put in of any particular item.

3. IC2 or RP2 Rubber trees, IC2 are better if you want renewability, RP2 are good for alot of rubber per 1 tree but the rubber doesn't grow back. Harvest Sticky Resin from the yellow dots on the trunk of IC2 rubber trees with a treetap then put sticky resin in a extractor for 3 rubber each. Put RP2 rubberwood logs in an extractor for 1 rubber.

4.There are more than 1 different type of silver/copper/tin/lead because different mods add different ingots. to solve this convert them all into nuggets and then back into ingots.

did you make your tool?
Isn't it an option on the tool?
Nor for me. I installed the 3 upgrades(Axe, Shovel, Pickaxe), I installed the plasma cannon upgrade. Dont have the melee upgrade yet. No option for railgun. Do I need to get everything else first?

Nope, you should be able to put it right away, but.. if im not wrong, railgun isn't on 1.0.1...

Guess Ill give this a small bump. Im trying to decide what to do next. Got a bit into forestry, Built my full power suit. Debating where to go next. I have made some cockcoal and have some excess stuff stored up in tanks. Gonna try building the second solar panels now. Gonna try centrifuges too. Dunno where to look to next for machines though.

At some point you'll want to go to the Nether to find glowstone for centrifuging and get some Netherrack and Nether Brick for a blast furnace. One coal coke and an iron ingot in a blast furnace makes one steel ingot. You can also use blast furnaces to melt down armor and tools back into ingots. You should also make a Rolling Machine sometime soon to make mixed metal ingots.

One thing you might want to try is building a Cart Assembler, which lets you make modular minecarts out of a hull and various modules. For five diamonds, some glowstone, and a bit of iron and gold you can make a fairly cheap automated solar-powered tree farming minecart (standard hull, solar engine, woodcutter, and at least one inventory module). You'll need the rolling machine for track though (plus the creosote oil for the ties) but this gets you a steady renewable source of wood, saplings, and apples. You can also make a cart manager and place it by the track to empty out the cart's inventory automatically.

You should also turn all your coal that you want for fuel into coal coke, as it lasts four times as long, and use coke ovens to burn logs into charcoal (without using additional fuel) for another fuel source and more creosote oil.

Woooah. Lot to take it here. Will see. Never made automated anything, This will be fun. Random question though. Aside from all this, trying to craft backpacks. Anyone know if bees respawn in a biome and if you can find other bees from a different biome in .. a different biome?

Confusing phrasing. But I need tropical bees but.. Ive found 1 mini jungle biome in the past day and Ive gone past some 7-8 large biomes already. So Im wondering if I could just break random beehives, get a tropical bee from them and just heat up an apiary or go to my one jungle biome and breed them there. All my tropical bees died out. =( And this biome doesnt have any more.
