I'm trying to get the Stannum bee in 152WGT. NEI says Forestry plus Industrious. I have tried them several times and I am using soul frames but no mutations. Then someone suggested putting a tin block under the apiary. Tried that several times but no luck. Then I tried a tin ore block. Still no luck.

The tin block I used was the one created in the GT compressor. There is another tin block in NEI, but I think it is the one that comes from the TConstruct foundry.

Any ideas?

Some Magic Bees bees require specific conditions outside of species in order to breed. I do not know the conditions Stannum bees require, if any, but there is probably a wiki somewhere with information on bee breeding.

Stannum comes from Forest and Industrious and requires a Tin Block underneath the apiary. Not sure why you're not having any luck there. Have you tried switching the GT tin block for a different one with the Forge Lexicon/Unifier?

Which version of Magic Bees are you using? A few versions had a bug, that you could not breed any bees which needed a special block underneath their housing. Try manually updating to 2.1.0.
Your tin block should be registered with oreDict as blockTin.

Turns out it was indeed a bug in the version of Magic Bees that I had. I upgraded and got the mutation on the first try.

OK Time to revive an old thread. I'm playing Unleashed 1.1.6 trying to get this bee. No luck so far. The version of magic bees is 2.1.1 which is the latest version for 1.5.2. So far I've tried the block of tin underneath as well a block of tin ore. No luck getting this bee. Also put in 3 mutators (uranium), still nothing. Any ideas?

With an alveary make sure any special blocks are underneath the centre block of the alveary.

Make sure that the block of tin is underneath a vanilla Forestry block, not a function block (i.e. mutator, frame housing, etc.). Also, be careful about how much you boost the mutation rate--if it goes too high, there's a good chance your princess will become a swarmer princess, which is never fun. ;)

Yeah... already turned the princess into a swarmer. And the bottom center block was/is a regular forestry alveary block. I guess I'll have to cheat in a pair or bees. I would prefer to do it the correct way.

Not sure if I care for needing special blocks / conditions to get the mutations I need. Just makes the whole process a pain.

Is the block of Tin a Forestry block of Tin, or an IC2 block of tin ? If you have multiple, different kinds of blocks of tin in the world, you may have to try each of them. I don't know how to describe a 1.5.2 Forestry block of tin.

Also, please verify that Forestry is indeed making its own tin:

./config/forestry/common.conf:world.generate.tin=true

But, you've probably already done that and checked that. It's possible this is a bug or otherwise update not yet done for 1.6.x .

I'll also add the alternative (original ?) line of metallic bees works just fine in Forestry 2.3 w/ExtraBee (binnies-mods-1.8-dev2). So far, I have Rusty (iron), Corroded (copper), Glittering (gold), Lapis, and Diamond bees. Besides the dice rolling on the low % mutation chance, no unexpected hiccups getting those.

It could be the "special block under the alveary" mutation algorithm has a bug or update yet to be done. I haven't tried one of those yet in 1.6 .

That could be. At this point I don't think Binnie will be updating the 1.5.2 version any more. He he has release several newer version for 1.6.2 & 1.6.4. I just sort've wish the Forge would do like a minecraft version freeze. Something like update Forge for 1.5.2 then skip 1.6 now do another Forge update for 1.7 then skip 1.8.. etc. That way it gives mods a chance to actually fix bugs rather than just update to the newest/latest all of the time. It would also give us longer periods of stability. Something we haven't seen since 1.2.5.

I'm glad Forge did not skip 1.6 . MC 1.6 is more stable with *far* fewer memory leaks than 1.5.2/1.5.4 . Sure, the mods have to be updated and some can't/won't make the cut. But, there are some new/improved mods that are well worth it. Thaum 4 is very cool as is Ender IO. TE 3 should also be very good. IC2 Exp is a nice upgrade over IC2 for 1.5, IMHO. The machines look better, at least ;-)

Also, the difference between 1.5 Forge and 1.6 Forge is not that big. However, 1.7 Forge will require far more changes. If anything, some mods might skip 1.7. We're going to be with 1.6 as the stable MC platform for a looooong time. Don't expect decent 1.7 modpack until 2015, seriously.
