Marshall awoke, his head hurting like hell. A new person sat in the cell, making little electrical sparks between his fingers.
"What's your name?" The man grinned as though he already knew.
"Marshall, what's yours?"
"Martin, James Martin. So, can you get on with it?"
Marshall shook the fuzziness from his head and stood up. "What? Try another vision? No."
"No? Do you know what they do in here to people who refuse? It's not pretty. I'll tell you that. Now, vision. Before there's trouble."
"You're going to electrocute me, aren't you?"
James laughed. "I don't think they want you dead yet."
"You could have fooled me with that last guy." Marshall rubbed the back of his neck and sat down on the floor again. "Fine, but I'll really be pissed if you shock me."
Marshall leaned his head back and started to slip into the familiar grip of the future.
The laptop didn't look so different on the outside, but the inside was another story. He saw himself type his own name into the search box. Suddenly, unspeakable images flipped past faster than he had ever seen. Even at the hyperfast speed, each one seemed to register in his mind. He sat in there for what felt like hours. Fear set in as he realized that he had been in the grip of the vision for a very long time. The future him screamed in agony.
Marshall opened his eyes with a gasp. "What the fuck happened? What did you do to me?" He reached across the cell and grabbed James by the arms. "Tell me what you did!"
James shrugged. "I just slowed time a little bit while you were in there. I bet the doctors are going to have a field day with this."
