Hi

Is there a good and easy way to remove large amount of lava.
Im mining and creating a large room deep under ground.
But there is so much lava where i am.

I really need the room to be in this location, so i need to remove the lava.

What is the best way to do it?
So far i used up all my gravel trying to remove it. But so much left that i am getting a bit tierd of it.

Is there any function within the FTB mods that can help?
I am not on my own server, so i can not change any settings to cheat.

Wand of Cooling from Factorization will turn it into obsidian without the need for water bucketing shenanigans.

if it's a pool of lava, then enderthermic pumps will replace all lava blocks with stone...just store the lava in a tank if u want...or void it.

(Note: this block only works in the nether, unless you change the config)

water only makes top lvl to obsidian.
a it is a pain to remove the top lvl and then dig down to next lava level.

dont have a quarry, with greg tech, im far from one.

i tried the filler now
it works good but stops when it encounter lava.
So i i still need to manually remove the lava.

this is in the overworld so the enderthermic pump wont work for me :(

Map out an area above the lava for the filler. Then use gravel or sand in the filler. As soon as it gets placed, it should then fall down into the lava, and then the filler should replace the block with a new one. Then you just have a big area of gravel/sand to get rid off.

water to change it into obsidian, then a wand of equal trade to turn it into dirt or something cheap, then shovel the shit :D

Ask an admin to remove it for you (if they have world edit/world guard all they need to do is //drain 100 near the lava) and when they say no just say ok well I'm going to try and remove it manually and cause horrendous amounts of lag in the process from flowing lava.

Then sit back and watch them remove it in an instant :D

Is there any reason why you can't use a buildcraft pump?

It doesn't remove flowing lava, lava doesn't work like water whereby the flow will stop when the source block is removed, unless ofc the server is using MCPC+ with the flowing lava flag turned on, in which case it will remove the flow too.

If you have a good power source, using an energy tesseract, liquid tesseract and a Buildcraft's pump can empty lava lakes pretty fast too. As for Ender-Thermic Pump, there's a config that would allow it to work in the overworld too, iirc.

Actually it is because of code chicken core in 1.5+

The default config was changed to have flowing lava work more like water.

Just use a normal Buildcraft Pump. They are pretty cheap to make, and have the side benefit of also letting you store the lava for use later on. I always use BC pumps in the overworld for my first set of geothermal gens before I can get to the nether.

You could always use a bucket of water and a turtle. Mining turtles are fairly cheep early in the game and you can use the built in excavate command to clear the area. Just place a water source block somewhere above the turtle (so it doesn't remove the source block) and let the turtle mine up the obsidian. As the turtle digs down the water will keep making new obsidian. You might have to move your source block around and/or fill in some area once it is finished but this will do the trick for you.

What patch are you playing? In my experience, since 1.52 flowing lava without a source will disappear, though of course more slowly than water. I know in 1.47 it didn't; flowing lava could become some sort of semi-source block that couldn't be touched but still was there, but it's never happened to me since I moved to 1.52.
