1.10.2 is missing a few mods that would be needed to port my world forward. So, while I like what I'm seeing -- and I think 1.10.2 will be the next 1.7.10 like 1.4.7 or 1.2.5 were, I'm probably not going to start a real world there for a while.

Seriously, all 1.7.10 needs is a maintenance fork of forge. I know that there are people willing to do the work, it's just that no one seems able to get permission to distribute the MCP mappings needed to compile/distribute a fork of forge.

I was under the impression that MCP and Forge were open source. If that's the case...the only thing stopping someone is people throwing a fit for just going ahead and solving the problem.

Forge itself is open source, but to use it, to distribute a fork, you need the MCP mappings.

Those are *NOT* open source.

http://mcp.ocean-labs.de/ redirects you to http://www.modcoderpack.com/website/
There is nothing of substance there.

I have attempted -- twice -- to contact Searge on twitter to get permission to redistribute MCP mappings for a fork of forge for 1.7.10 myself. No responses. Not even a "Sorry, the answer is no".

Immibis tried to do a fork of forge 1.7.10. But since you can't actually distribute a ready to run, stand-alone forge that can just drop in, what is distributed is a complicated thing that has to (as I understand it) rebuild your modpack into something that can be run each time you change the list of mods that you are playing with, and is not just a simple update.

Where you searching for something like http://www.modcoderpack.com/website/content/mcp-908 ?
on http://www.modcoderpack.com/website/ you can click on releases in the top right corner
This brings you to a page where all versions are displayed. Note however that despite the version numbers don't look like links at first sight (at least, for me) they actually are

I actually discovered that they are links by accident, thus don't feel bad for missing them :p
(also, I have not looked at what it exactly contains and it thus it may be something else)

edit: to make matters worse, if I make my screen small enough the releases link disappears and as a result I wouldn't be surprised that it at least on certain phones won't show up.

Huh... I guess that's so people don't have quite as easy a time makng cracked clients. Not that its particularly difficult without MCP.

new day, new update, and today it's @gbanbubble07 with Minecraft Circuits

and @OreCruncher with Dynamic Surroundings

and @horsewithnoname with Metamorph

Are there any plans to add to Metamorph? iChun posted a Reddit thread aeons ago talking about his plans for his Morph mod. He was inspired by the book series "Animorphs" a book series for kids that was sold via Scholastic book sales and the like. It dealt with (as you might guess) the transformation of school kids into animals. They used this power to fight ebil slug aliens that could basically possess people by crawling into the ears of their target.

Rambling about nostalgia aside, this was the post. https://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/comments/1vhu4i/morphs_future_plans_in_detail/

It basically talks about trying to in some way mimic the book series I mentioned in order to make it require some kind of exploration/interaction with the world to unlock. It's two years old and I hadn't heard about this becoming a thing, so I was wondering if @horsewithnoname would figure out a way to add that or if the current easy system would stick around?

I wish I knew, but I'm simply just reposting updates found on curseforge for mods.
you can try posting questions on the curseforge page or the minecraftforum topic for Metamorph and hopefully the developer will answer your questions.

new day, new update, and today it's @Soggy_Mustache with Zoo & Wild Animals

and @JoltEffect with Thermal Solars

and @McJty with In Control!
Thanks @McJty for this mod, just last night I was thinking about a new mod pack design I thought to myself "wouldn't it be great if there was a way to control mob spawning based on depth".
As part of the design I'm looking to increase "sea level" height, to give more underground space to play with.

What mods are you missing in particular? Just curious

That said, don't overlook the wonders of ArchitectureCraft. It scratches a bit of a different itch than Carptener's Blocks, but canm nonetheless, do some fun things.
