I agree, but whatever helps them sleep at night I guess...I like the basic alert use and such, the drawn out thing makes me mad. I should not have to prove my pack to you for me to use your mod... That's just annoying and dumb...
So you think it is good to have to make sure a mod author sees how "awesome" your pack is to decide whether or not to "let" you generously use it? Most modders do not have that attitude thank goodness... I don't think they should get to judge case by case. It should be out and about, or private, but not so selective. Then don't use the mod. You will lose many good mods if you have that attitude.
Here is a better question:So you think it is good to have to make sure a mod author sees ho "awesome" your pack is to decide whether or not to "let" you generously use it? Most modders do not have that attitude thank goodness...
Time I have, patience I have, my problem is staying interested for more than 2 months at a timeHere is a better question:
If you cannot be bothered to run you pack by the mod devs, what makes you think you have the time and patience to manage and maintain (and if needed, fix and redesign) the pack?
I did not say I could not. I said it was a hassle, and annoying. I get why it exists, but it is a pain. I want to spend my time fixing and maintaining the pack, that is the point. Not contacting authors for long periods of time. Here is a better question:

Well, they just are afraid people would ruin the good name of the mods in some ludicrous way like making GregTech easier to play than a Dirt-to-Diamonds modSo you think it is good to have to make sure a mod author sees how "awesome" your pack is to decide whether or not to "let" you generously use it? Amen... I have so many ideas bubbling in my mind, I just want to drop a pack sometimes to move on to a new idea.Time I have, patience I have, my problem is staying interested for more than 2 months at a time

To be fair, I have came to many points where I've found a great mod who's author went MIAHere is a better question:

Finding mods took longer than finding permissions. I fact, I only needed to ask questions 4 times out of all 99 mods in my packThe process of getting permissions should take no more than a week.
That is more of a gray area, and even I would excuse using the mod anyways if you could not reasonably expect a response within a week or two.To be fair, I have came to many points where I've found a great mod who's author went MIA
It doesn't, it is just time I could spend doing better things... I only have a window of time in which to work on packs, and using that time wisely is important. So having to prove a pack to authors is not how I want to spend my time. It is not fun, or worth it, and casts the mod in a worse light for me personally. I get it may be important, but it is also annoying. Kepp in mind the percentage of modders who do that is small. Mo'Creatures is an example of why perms should not be a thing though. The process of getting permissions should take no more than a week.

I could possibly agree on that, unless the thread/website tells that the author is going to Spain for a week or something. That is more of a gray area, and even I would excuse using the mod anyways if you could not reasonably expect a response within a week or two.
Eh, "whatever revvs their motor" is what I sayIt doesn't, it is just time I could spend doing better things... Look at his 500$ a month perk-Eh, "whatever revvs their motor" is what I say
The author of Mo'Creatures is generally accepted to do that in order to get more adfly downloads, a definitely illegitimate, if legal, reason. What you said is like saying that because people use Minetweaker to screw up mods and harass the devs is why that should not be a thing.Mo'Creatures is an example of why perms should not be a thing though.
A bit harsh, but MoCreatures has historically been really pack-a-phobic, so I'd say it's a victory that he's even considering it...Look at his 500$ a month perk-

That is modding crap if you ask me... The mod is great and that sucks... It makes me not want to use it ever, not just in a pack.
I don't understand.. You mean he is an exception right? I agree wholeheartedly. It is just annoying and should not be allowed. The author of Mo'Creatures is generally accepted to do that in order to get more adfly downloads, a definitely illegitimate, if legal, reason.
