chunk reset just ripped through my base...

ouch.jpg

I'd just finished building a 6-directional redpower2 frame platform in the area where the chunk has spawned, it's not quite a reset though as that's a glacier chunk in the middle of my birch forest biome.

It's destroyed a some good stuff too; mffs capacitor, projector etc, some alvearies, my effing bed, the frame motor platform, sonofa...

I should really backup my server...

"I should really backup my server..."

I should have put daily backup there, I've got a world save from 4 days ago when I last uploaded my world for viewers to download, so I think I'll revert to that, it's not a major problem :)

I was just going to repair and rebuild but I'd still have a glacier chunk in my base that could cause problems, heh.

I probably would have literally shit a brick in fury.

No chunk reset is a good chunk reset.

At least, it has some copper...

yeah, brightside :)

Anyone got any ideas what might have caused this? I usually leave the server up all the time but decided to turn it off lastnight as I had 4000 iridium nuggets to find a use for so didn't need to leave my automation on.

I'd just finished making a 6-directional redpower2 frame motor platform on the offending chunk, do frames have any history with causing chunk issues?

And i suppose other main question if anyone understands the mechanic is why a glacier biome and not the birch forest that resetting to seed value should have given it?

I reset my world back to episode 50 of my let's play and not lost too much, 4 days automation, 4 ultimate hybrids and a IDSU (heh), some cosmetic base changes, some tree breeding and the making of the frame motor platform. So not too bad, couple of hours repair and a couple of days waiting for the resources to remake stuff :)

Once had the biomes change in my gameworld too. You might find if you go exploring to new areas that you'll get different biome generation, resulting in messy mismatching chunk edges, like what's happened with your base. I never found out what was the cause, but it occured after an update. I'm now not updating my DW20 mod pack until I'm ready to move onto a new version of MC and I've pretty much exhusted what the pack can offer. So, most likely around minecraft version 1.6/1.7 :D I skipped all of 1.3 due to playing Tekkit :p

Any slight change to the biome configs will also totally change the world gen too. Can be easy to miss updating a config now and again. I think that was what happened to me, but by then it was too late.

ebxl extra biomes are semi random and may dovetail from world seed. feed it the same seed a few times and watch how results vary, sometimes far more widely than others. that explains the "you can now haz glacier wid yer plains" bit.

as to the reset, you've been having bad bad fps issues, but i never can tell from the videos what the tickrate is doing for you. if your servers having a hard time keeping up the odds of things doing a herpaderp increase greatly.

as to issues.. well i don't wager you had a vanilla enderchest anywhere, just the chickenbones versions.
to any chunkloaders or saving the world and starting up again while the frame machine was trying to move, but stuck on something can do it, though it usually only blows up the frame machine.

think there's some fiddliness if you have it out alone and your chunkloader onboard the thing isn't big enough to cover one chunk beyond any possible boundary of the machine.

active portalgun portals onboard can cause twitchy issues reportedly.

have had quite a few bores and frameships myself, and haven't blown one up yet. it's unfortunate you didn't have a more recent save copy to try seeing if you could induce it again.
