its this sort of thing that has been delaying mod API for so long.
Exactly this. I can't understand why they feel the need to make the game harder by adding new features like this, rather than working on the Modding API.

I like the fact that they are willing to add an API for Modders to use within Minecraft. I am not happy for them making it impossible to leave my Mansion on Vanilla Hardcore at night anymore.

Edit: Grammar Derp

If you think of it, vanilla MineCraft is their bread & butter, their main source of income. It is totally natural for them to make it as enticing as possible for people who are new to the game.

Whereas modded MineCraft are played by a smaller group of people, also having talented programmers that makes modded MineCraft works. Plus, we've bought the game, we no longer generate revenue for them to say the least.
I do not like being treated like a second class citizen too but sadly this is how most businesses conduct themselves now. Revenue first.

Yeah, that's true. Not just for new players, but also for the people who purchased it very early on. Heck, I bought the game back in Alpha, and so much has been added into the game since then. Without all that, it would have become stale to me.

I think that when they do release the Mod API it'll be something like the Mann Co store from TF2, where you can purchase 'mods' (AKA crappy custom recipe content) for a glorious sum of 10 cents a pop.[DOUBLEPOST=1386377429][/DOUBLEPOST]

"Harder".

This doesn't significantly make the game harder, just adds the ability for a mob to ride a mob. Even if they do implement it, it'll probably either be only accessible via Creative or MCEdit (like those stupid head things), or will spawn so rarely you'll never see it, like Spider Jockeys.

Uh... No?

They can't just sell other people's mods like that. And if they did... Well, I don't always agree with mojang, but I'm darn sure they can't be that stupid.

And what's wrong with the Mann co store? I personally liked it and though it as a great marketing strategy for valve

I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that.

I don't just mean the current additions. I remember a while back that they implemented a feature causing the difficulty to increase when you stay in an area too long, and another that makes Skeletons shoot faster the closer you are. Don't get me wrong, I like those features (Except on my Vanilla Hardcore world) but they could've focused more on the Mod API instead.

I read somewhere that the 'Mod API' would simply allow people to make 'plugins', which would be different from mods in the respect that they would be programmed differently, could be loaded and installed in game, and could be distributed in a way that would allow plugin developers to make money off their plugins if they wished. Not sure where I found that, but I can see Mojang taking the API in that direction if they ever create it.

In my opinion, APIs such as Forge and Modloader will still exist, but will either be plugins, or will simply be installed the old way.

When I read that I though it would be *roughly* like forge mods. You know, they don't work unless they're specifically written to use forge, and dropping mods that change base classes (jar installation) don't work with forge.

Now I don't feel like I explained that well, but I *think* it should at least get the point across.

And again, mojang can't/isn't stupid enough to sell mod makers' content.

I wouldn't say "sell mod maker's content", I'd say "mod makers can make it so that their mods cost money, and a small percentage of their income goes to Mojang".

Oh.

Well still, If really wouldn't be a good idea. Besides, selling mods as it stands right now is illegal
