Need Help:Fast Travel Methods

Step 2: Build IC² Teleporters.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit. ;)

I'm just kidding, water's too slow. Use those oldschool TNT cannons. With the halfslabs/water..

"slabs" made me think of another idea I've had forever.. "ethoslabs" like Ethoslab but slab form. It's just a stone slab with etho's skin on it. It's useful.

Steam locomotives. They are pretty fast, easy to keep fueled, and building a train setup is fun. Also, it's a whistling choo-choo!!! :D

I have a mob spawner up at the roof of the build limit and use 12 levitators to get up there. Built me a little alter/pyramid thing that shoots me out a chimney at the top. It's fun enough making that trip up there and looking down at the rest of my base that it hasn't gotten boring yet.
 
I've never had any success with magnetizers. They work the first time and then go kaput at random after that. If it's early game, this usually ends in my death from broken legs. I cast my vote for levitators.
 
use the funny logic of nether portals to have fast one way travel, might not work because your building it high up in the sky though
 
You have to think about death, and the possibility somebody will've broken your bed. Nice tower you've got there. I'm assuming it doesn't touch the ground, so teleporters or arcane levitators seem to be the way to go. Or aerial faith plates. Long distances are definitely railcraft though. Unless you have tons of EU.

Or have a vanilla idea, and make yourself a TNT launcher. A TNT elevator. A TNT player-shooting device. They exist, and they should be fun! :D
Gunpowder and sand shouldn't be problems. Especially on servers, you can probably expect SOMEBODY to have a creeper farm. And sand? Pfft.
 
Jess hit the nail on the head there. The lowest block is at 117 and airlock (door) is at 147. Ive had to make a few noob towers to back in, tho I was a little smart and made this over an ocean.
 
You can make steep staircases out of microblocks for very fast accents.

No need for anything else on you as long as you make it with cover differences between each level.
So, ground up

Full block
Anti-cover
triple panel
Cover panel

Would start you off for example.

After testing it just then, this may be the fastest ascent that I've found so far, 8 blocks up for the time it takes to move 1 block across.
 
Oh! I turtles! Although programming is a pain in the ass. I just saw a guy set one up and it took him ages.

Hrm. If I knew what sea-level was, I could probably rig up a really dodgy tnt launcher design for you. Ascent/descent frame platforms work too. Speaking of which, and your floating base, I want to make a floating tower thing. That moves. Then I can roam around conquering stuff. Yeah...
 
I feel like I need to put some Arcane Bores on this project by default and maybe talk to my server admin about adding a flying ship mod...
