Yeah, I figured that, as they don't pick up the robust Twilight Oak as a tree (I think because it lacks leaves within 30 blocks) that the redwood would probably be similar.

Given that Natura is a compliment to TC, it's possible that it's deliberate, otherwise someone would be carving out a new room in their treehouse only to discover that the roof disappeared.
 
I've cut down two of these big bastards, i've used at least 20-30 stacks of it, and i have a barrel with 90 stacks of the heartwood. So my guess is that you get about 40-60 (depending on height) stacks of the heartwood alone per tree, and many stacks of bark.
you can use the TC lumberjack, as long as there are leaves on top of the logs, but it doesnt cut all the branches down, since they don't all connect to the trunk, which makes it a pain in the *ss to cut it down :/
 
I think you'd need a couple of Axes of the Stream, since it takes me about four for those big ones in the Twilight and this is perhaps a little bigger.
 
It takes 49 sapplings in a 7x7 and several MC days to grow, to speed up the process I found going into the Twilight Forest helped speed things along.

Yeah, when I first encountered one, I thought about getting on it with an Axe of the Stream. But my axe had the repair enchantment on it, and I was afraid that there was so much wood, it would drain all the Vis out of the whole world. Heck, I was afraid it would hack my neighbour's wifi, log on to his computer, install minecraft and drain all the Vis out of that world too...

I left myself standing and staring at mine for a few hours whilst I prepared a roast dinner IRL. I grew 2 - one 7x7 and one 9x9. Then I got sick of them and cut them down. Used the full durability of a manyullyn scythe and lumber axe in the process, just using the scythe to clear out enough leaves to see the wood to cut it down, not to mention a couple of hours. From those two trees I got just over 12 stacks of roots, just over 100 stacks of bark, just over 83 stacks of heartwood and 22 and a half stacks of saplings. One tree was visibly taller than the other (interestingly the one with fewer saplings was taller), but both had the same thickness trunk.
Also, I agree with those saying it's not worth making a tree farm of them. Takes too long, they're a pain to cut down fully, and you get tons of relatively useless bark with the useful wood.

I've planted several with just one sapling and it grew in about 5 minutes real time...I was very shocked. Tried it with about 30 saplings spread around. 15 Minutes later I had 30 trees all fully grown. New server, bug? lol I'll have to try again today, I just reset that server with the 1.1.3 update...

Lots and Lots of Charcoal (though, it is actually faster and more charcoal from just a normal oak farm)
 
I planted 7x7 redwood saplings, and a few minutes later a small redwood grew, then another one, then another one. Three separate redwoods, all from separate places within the 7x7 grid, within 5 minutes. Did I use the wrong redwoods? Are the ones I used from BoP maybe?
 
probably to make sure you can go into NEI and type @natura This will show all the items and blocks for that mod. Then check out the redwood sapling and compare to what you have. I have found if you are using BoP the natura redwoods only show up in vanilla plains biomes.
 
screen shot? I know extra biomes also has a red wood tree if you are using that instead... But from my experiences playing with the natura redwood trees back in 1.4.7 I found that they only grew in a 7x7 pattern and never had small trees. Very odd I am convinced yall arent using the right red wood trees or Mdyio has changed how the trees work.

Thats the right redwood.. huh odd maybe he changed how they work in 1.5.x On a side note with treecapitator on you can get so much wood lol... I just used a filler to clear out the bushes up top that dont get cleared. Angel blocks for the win! :D
 
Took me hours to cut 3 down manually the other day...still have 2 more to go....:)...getting all those leaves with a jetpack and a force mitt is a pain...
 
Did you grow that redwood by yourself?
I'm trying to grow the biggest type of Redwood but I'm getting the smaller one, with 3 sections instead of 4.
Your Redwood tree has 4 sections and is 13x13 if I am right.
 
it's not my redwood, it's just a pic I got off google to show the one I was talking about.

I think they are pretty random...I've planted a lot of them and had a mix of them.
 
there is a BOP redwood, that redwood shown is a natura redwood. My own trees are massive, I've got a redwood elf village planned with them. They take awhile but once you can make one you can continually make them, the ammount of sapplings you get from them is staggering. I wonder if a multifarm can handle them...
 
I have a redwood house and I hollow out floors and have gotten at least 10 stacks of wood blocks and am barely through half the tree. So, they have increases size of redwoods in 1.5.x
