By the way, Redwood tree houses are amazing and work and look perfect! Especially if you add in the Natura addon for Bibliocraft, it makes for easy storage and functionality.

I'm really wondering, has anyone started doing some crucible crafting in a redwood tree and forgot they placed lava/fire in a treehouse? :P

Not exactly that, but I was playing with Mekanism and had a Heat Generator running on coal/charcoal, providing power for some starter ore processors.
It then came to me that, "Hey! I can surround it with 4 blocks of lava source block to provide some passive energy generation! )

The End.

Oh wow, they must have changed them. The ones i've seen spawn in plains biomes and go just below cloud level. If they're the same design, but above cloud level i'd say that you'd get at least seven to ten stacks.

Try again... your guessometer is way off.

When I get my favorite Natura Redwood size, 13 blocks in diameter, I get about 2 1/2 stacks just hollowing out the ground level at 3 blocks high, and I've only gone 4 levels up so far... I haven't even reached the point where the trunk tapers inward yet.

I use the TiCo glass blocks for picture windows. On the tree mentioned above, after the ground level i get 60 bark blocks per level just clearing for my windows, at 5 wide x 3 high x 4.

MFR harvesters will chop down redwoods fyi, but they have a height ceiling; you need 4 or 5 spaced out vertically but you CAN farm them if you're tired of normal trees.

I was really paranoid when making my thaumcraft lab in one. I know fire wont spread from the block of netherrack used to fuel the Cauldron, but still... Encased the netherrack in obsidian just to be extra extremely sure :P

I bet it made alot of people happy that you can now use nitor aswell :P

Oh when was that added? Thaumcraft 4(or whatever the version of the 1.6 one is)?

yup, in Thaumcraft 4 you can now also use nitor beneath the crucible to heat it up, a much better choice IMO (no annoying sound or particle effect)

Cool, and yeah the sound effect from torches/netherrack when living in a tree can be rather unnerving. Specially if multiple go off at the same time :p

Someone should make a mod with a sprayer that applies fire retardant coating to leaves/wood :)

could be used for more blocks, like normal cobble and such, as those can also get caught on fire and can still transfer the fire onto other blocks

Do Wrath Lamps prevent fire? That would be ironic.

haha, I guess it could seeing as it makes an invisible light block that blocks other things from taking that block.
would be funny though if those light blocks could catch on fire aswell. infinite fire dome anyone? :P

Trying to chop one down using PR axes and syckles.
Strategy I use is to skin the tree by removing all the bark I can on ground level and then use IC2 scaffolds to go up until I have a1 piece thick platform to stand on. Once I reach the top, I will remove the heart wood, scaffolds, and remaining bark on my way down.
Stats so far:
16 gem axes used
6 gem syckles used
Almost a full gold chest full of charcoal and bark waiting to be turned into charcoal
20 deaths from falling
And I'm only 3/4 - 7/8 of the way to the top.
