Well since it wants to run profiling AGAIN after updating to Infinity 1.5.1(maxing out my RAM and killing the server in the process before it's done) I've just dropped it as well
That is true, but I still think that I wouldn't even think of bothering with Myst anymore. However, I still like Mystcraft a lot and I would never use RFTools in a more magically oriented play or modpack. I like to go with the flow of the modpack and it would be really out of place to use RFTools when all the rest is magical stuff
I see your point, but for me it all falls apart when there is no ATG world gen page...
Am I the only one who never liked mystecraft? Right from the get-go?
I would love that. For me, some competent modder could do well by stepping up to the plate and making a Mystcraft alternative that simply exposed the list of world generators as potential dimensions.
Then, depending on the mods that are installed - BoP, EBXL, BWG4, ATG - as well as the existing world generators (large biomes / super flat etc ) could all be used.
For balance, the mechanisim that allowed presets for the super flat generator would need to be whitelist controlled.
Isn't that mostly what RFTools does but then without the costs (which you can remove in the configs btw).
Unless I'm not understanding the proposal.
RFTools is a well executed idea.
However. My proposal is that to me - the perfect dimension adding mod - would not (necessarily) add any generation code of its own. It would simply expose the list of world generators typically visible when starting a new world as the potential dimension specifiers.
So ideally, (as an admin) I could create a dimension using the Super Flat generator, with a redstone ready preset, and a particular seed, and get the exact same result had I created a new game / world from scratch with those settings.
... That, my friend, depends on the preset.setting a quarry at height 5 will not give you a lot of ores
Is that very useful? The two most common dimensions that people make are void worlds (which you cannot do with the above proposal as far as I know) and mining worlds which are typically flat worlds but not the way Minecraft usually generates them because setting a quarry at height 5 will not give you a lot of ores
Just a note: the keyword is right there at the beginning...I'd hope so. By getting a mod like RFTools to use existing world generators two useful things happen:
1. Other modders can implicitly create dimension generators by writing world generators.
2. RFTools own dimension generation code could become available to use as an overworld. Surely it can make pretty dimensions? Maybe I don't want a boring overworld at all
Not RFTools itself for the first bullet, I think.I'd hope so. By getting a mod like RFTools

2. Totally playing that with others in my next world. Is there a way to sleep in RFTools dimensions, @McJty?
It would have to use the pages, not the book though, because the book can hold multiple pagesCofh has a tpx command now. Doesn't work quite the same, as it TP's you to your current coordinates in the new dimension... I miss the ability to hit worldspawn by just /tpx 0
Also WarpBooks is the mystcraft linking book only better in every way except lack of portals.
Someone needs to make a WarpBook addon that adds Mystcraft style portals with Warp Books instead of linking books. That would be pwn
RFTools, my friend. RFTools.Someone needs to make a WarpBook addon that adds Mystcraft style portals with Warp Books instead of linking books. That would be pwn
RFTools, my friend. RFTools.
This RFTools mod sounds really cool... I wish it were in the DW20 pack sigh...
Well I'm trying to get Direwolf's attention in the hope he makes a spotlight for RFTools. The last one from Vaygrim is very good but it is already outdated.
And maybe if he does a spotlight he will like it enough to let it be added it to Direwolf20... One can only dream
In any case, you can always add it yourselves. It should work fine.
