Hello everybody,
i just watched the MindCrack Ultra Hardcore season 13 and i thought, how awesome would it be that the modders and other famous youtube persons who have a lot with minecraft modding to do doing a Modded Ultra Hardcore, with similar rules and circumstances, but with mods. It shouldn't be hard to set it up correctly.

Some of the rules could be:
  • No natural regen
  • No mystcraft (you could hide in your own world)
  • Mining: only caving, no mining tunnels, except to go straight up to the surface or to escape enemies.
  • No nukes (seems a little OP)
  • Everything with regen is more expensive to craft/build/make
  • All energy things (like EU, RF, BC Power, but also Mana and Vis)
  • No blocks which are impossible to break for others (like arcane blocks)
  • morph... yes or no? maybe so that if you morph it should be so that others still can indetify you as a player...
Since some stuff take time to build and to get it could be possible to place things like the arcane crafting altar and the ars megica 2 structures already placed (and hidden) in the arena. Items which give you certain research for thaumcraft 3 or certain spell componants for Ars Megica 2 could be created and placed in dungeon chests. This could inspire the players to use very different tactics and that could lead to a very intresting battle/play
als with the biomes o' pleanty mod the terrain can be very intresting.
To make it all work there propably must come a new modpack, with all de mods and configs set correctly.

By the way, if you read this and have good ideas: please post them
and if you can help me set this up, or help me to notify every one who should be in the M.U.H.C. please do so :)

The ability to annihilate people in Modded MC is too great hence a general lack of modded PVP servers. It might work but will require a very very specialised and balanced modset...

indeed, that's the hardest part i think, making a balanced modpack[DOUBLEPOST=1388848710][/DOUBLEPOST]one-hit-kill-when-the-person-who-is-getting-hit-has-full-health-weapons probably should also be excluded..

While I voted yes, UHC is a fast paced mod. A lot of modded Minecraft takes time... TC4, IC3, etc, all take time to get to their respective "PVP-able" stages. I can see Ars Magica working fairly well though.

I voted yes but also think about wich style the modpack should have it can't be your ftb ultimate style or something like that. You must be able to get stuff relative quickly and in favor of the watchers and proberly the players use mods that don't let you stare at the crafting table for an hour or another gui for that matter.

Could be good, but you'd have to be careful about which mods you use. I'd disable any sort of weapon that ignores armour; if there's no point in making armour, it reduces the amount of time you have to spend caving, which I don't think is good for a gamemode centred around survival. Not to mention it makes all the other weapons pointless apart from ranged ones.

I'd also disable any form of flight. It makes avoiding damage too easy.

type "UHS" as a pack code in the launcher :) The pack is called Ultra Hard Survival and addresses exactly what you want

There is UHS2 and it is in the ATLauncher mainly due to lack of permissions. This pack was made by ex-FTB Team member Wyld and its his pride and joy pack. It utilises Tinkers Construct configs for the hardcore settings like disabling passive health regen and making it harder to make golden apples/carrots.

I have played that pack and it is great for uhc, if there was like teams of 10 though...

UHC mode is a part of vanilla 1.6. I've thought that a UHC tournament in modded Minecraft would be interesting. You'd need to see if the mod that sets timers and map boundaries would be compatible. You'd also have to force some sort of time limit because people could be stuck crafting things forever instead of murdering each other.

Chest loot would be a definite game changer depending on the mod mix. You're more likely to get good armor or weapons using mods.

I feel like everyone would just rush to nano-armour. Ofcourse that doesn't make them invulnerable, but still pretty boring.

Well you have to power the nano-armour to be usefull if I recall corectly and than with the changes ic2 exp has. It will be a long and boring way and proberly not worth it.

The Mindcrack guys are working on a new PVP-oriented FTB pack. It's on 1.6 so you could certainly disable natural regen and play that when it's out.

So what mods *would* work for a modded UHC? Tinkers Construct seems like a shoo-in with having UHC settings built in. Rapiers might be OP though. Natura seems like a logical followup, and it would make the nether an even more dangerous proposition. Roguelike dungeons might be nice for danger vs reward, but could be unbalanced and has lag issues. DartCraft could be interesting since it advances quickly (although I haven't checked out the rebalanced). Biomes o Plenty could provide some interesting battlegrounds with the right settings. The increased Netherwort spawning means the Nether isn't useless if someone got there first. Would Balkon's weapons work? I've barely used it tbh. Reliquary adds some nice potions and random items that would encourage Nether exploration.

Any other ideas? Keep in mind most mods would be using heavily edited configs, so there's more to consider than just default balance.

rouge like dungeons, i think better dungeons is better because on hard mode the dungeons are INSANELY difficult and have some pretty good rewards.plus it is 1.6 now. balkons weapons and battle gear two: bullseye are some good PVP mods.[DOUBLEPOST=1388882427][/DOUBLEPOST]Also why does it have to be famous you tubers. Why can't it be people on the ftb forums in like a 30+ server and people livestreaming and recording it?

I apologize for not being clear. The chest loot found in modded Minecraft yields vastly greater advantages than vanilla alone. You can find blocks of steel, bronze armor, portal guns, even Swords from Thaumcraft. This changes the game a lot. I in no way meant that added chests should be implemented.

And who needs them? Between vanilla locations like villages, mineshafts and spawner dungeons, mods also add worldgen dungeons. Thaumcraft Barrow Hills & Totem structures, Witchery circles & strawmen, and added loot from mod village houses from TC, & Tinker's Construct; all are valid chest loot locations. in a 2000x2000 area people in vanilla find lots of chest loot. It'd only be multiplied with mods.

Better dungeons... food for thought
