Using the stone one makes the most sense, since you can say some like: the stone is chipped away as the liquid forms in its shape.

Well, I submitted all of my finished scripts here: https://github.com/PhoenixTeamMC/PhoenixConfig/tree/master/Community so feel free to check them out. Im not really sure how well they will mesh with what the other phoenix configs already do, though.
So far theres three scripts. Thermal Construct, TE machines and Applied Buildistics.
The first two are the TE-Ticon crossover scripts Ive already talked about. Ive changed a few things around a bit concerning how gears are made, now the base gear is lead onto which you layer on molten metals to make the others-which I think is a good way to address the near uselessness of lead. Applied buildistics adds a new way of crafting AE processors involving layering certain molten metals onto buildcraft chipsets via fluid transposers. Its a slightly more involved and expensive process but it totally eliminates the need for meteors or incribers. Ive been using it in my legit world and I think its a lot more fun than the normal way. It requires Thermal Construct to function.
Ive still mulling over ideas for new scripts. Recently came up with a smeltery "alloy". Blood plus fuel equals Mob essence! A much less laggy way to generate lots of it, and it almost makes logical sense. Im just not sure how hard it is to make blood in Tinkers though. I think a coke oven recipe for blood from mob drops would be a good alternative to cooking villagers in the smeltery anyway. And give me something to do with those mob heads and spider eyes.

Well, Ive finished the EnderIO/TE crossover scripts finally. Most everything now requires TE materials to craft. Phased out the need for the alloy smelter, sag mill, slice n splice and all but one of the EIO ingots- dark steel because its needed for repairing damaged dark armor. Ive started a brand new world and added a few early-game convenience recipes to the Thaumcraft crucible for getting ender pearls and blaze rods because that is always a very annoying hurdle to cross. Also, after crafting a couple machines I realized that even though that now an average TE machine takes about 30 ingots of various types, they are still really easy to make. Considering using Tabula Rasa to add some new materials to further complicate the recipes. Like wiring for each ingot type, already have gears for each. I might compile all this into a modpack once I am satisfied.

Disable the core recipes and copy them into a new category where you can change whatever you like.
Just create a recipe of the same name and the same group as a core recipe in the AlloySmelterRecipes_User.xml and it will override it. Not sure if this can be used to disable recipes.
I dont know if anyone is interested but I think it would be great if some of us members interested in Minetweaking could start sharing ideas and collaborating in this thread. If we could get on the same page creatively we could work wonders. Not to toot my own horn, but I have always been good at this sort of thing. I am not a professional or aspiring coder/artist, its just a hobby of mine to tweak videogames if they will let me and I can be passionate about it. I was very active in the Morrowind modding community when it was still a thing due to its user friendly modding program. One of the projects I started is still ongoing, although without my help anymore, lol.
My overall goal is to integrate a few of what I consider the most essential mods with one another and vanilla. Tinkers, Thermal Expansion, AE, and Thaumcraft to be specific. And then link in the other slightly less essential mods like EnderIO, Extra Utilities and Witchery.

Hey, the morrowind modding community is still active (well, there's a weak pulse), not bad after all these years. It's nice that many of my mods are still recommended to new players. *warm fuzzy feeling*
I could share some of my scripts I use in my mod pack. I've got a big script that changes Magical Crops to be more "balanced" within a mod pack that includes automation and ore multiplication. It does have a minor link to botania, and does need some custom items made, so it's not a "straightforward" minetweaker only script.
I dont think it will be possible to not include custom items to make my ideas truly work, so thats fine. I was definitely planning on tweaking Magical Crops at some point. Oh and what are your MW mods called? I was mostly known for Hellhouse and the "Big city project" or whatever they have decided to call it since I stopped.
Creatures, Piratelords Trade Enhancements, Mountainous Red Mountain, Distant Lights and a few others.
Here's my MagicalCrops file. Bit rough, but good enough for a starting point. Feel free to use and pick apart. Included both config file and minetweaker script, both needed.
How it works is that in the config file, every output is set to 1, with only a 1% bonus seed chance. No essence seeds from long grass. They have to be crafted. This is done either with 8 essence from mining around a seed, or by dunking a seed into some mana from botania.
All ore seeds have had their ingots replaced with ore. Ingots have less value compared to ores in a mod pack with ore multiplication. In vanilla, ingots have higher value than ores (due to extra smelting cost, which is negligible in a big mod pack)
Mob essence recipe outputs changed (not available from config) and recipes standardised.
T1 Seeds use normal wheat seeds, T2 seeds use Essence Seeds, T3 and T4 seeds use custom item seeds with increasing mana cost. T3 and T4 require botania.
Moved a few seeds to different tiers, and also introduced half tiers.
Removed potion seeds (just personal preference) and Enchanted Bottle recipe.
99% of your magical crops farm will be crafted. T4 seeds really need to be guarded.
Oh, also very important, disable the watering can from XU

Just use the specific tags that you're given with the /mt hand command since it looks like the gates are identified by the NBT tag. Mekanism does a similar thing with its factories, each tier is only one block, with the factory type differentiated by an NBT tag.
You could probably use just <BuildCraft|TransportipeGate>.withTag({ex:["buildcraftulsar"]}), which should define the type, but allow the script to be slightly more generalised with the other tags, but you'd probably want to test it for your purposes.
