There's no way to feed it Herba from a node though. So, unless it can take primals, then you can't feed it from a node. Last I saw, feeding it from an essentia jar(the 1.6.4 way) was as slow as you're describing, but feeding it through piping allowed it its normal speed.

1.6 was a lot faster in that it did multiple crops at once and was just a few seconds quicker. The new one seems a tad slower and barely do 2 at a time. Though the last time I use it was a few versions back so maybe its changed a little. Also IIRC I couldn't feed the lamps directly from jars AT ALL.

My additions to this:
Add Tile Accelerators x256 from Chromaticraft to Each Plant, Lamp of Growth, Lilypad of Fertility and Flower.
Add a Autonomous Activator with a Sigil of the Green Grove (Unsure if this works).
Add a Ritual of the Green Grove.
Add Sprinklers from Open Blocks.
Add Sprinklers from Rotarycraft.
Add Fertilizers from Rotarycraft.
Add Timewood Tree Clocks from Twilight Forest.
Add Agricraft Sprinklers.
Add Tocherino Torches around the whole thing.
