Thinking about that idea for emit when empty, the last time I checked, the EU stayed at about 384EU, is that just a glitch?

Had a bit of a mess around using gates and the router pulls too quick for the gate trigger condition to kick in. Out of interest what modpack are you using? If you have gregtech and are at a fairly advanced level of resources the charge-o-mat really is nice for this kind of thing.

Check out the charge-o-mat and see if it is something you have materials for, it takes any chargeable item in the top or bottom and ejects to any side so no need for filters. Pic of my autocharge system attached, ender pouch lets me send my jetpack, tools, power suit etc to charge and it would also handle your crystals. Total items on pic 1x charge-o-mat, 2x transpowers, 2x pneutmatic tubes, 1x ender chest, 1x timer (set to 10s), 3x red wire, glass fibre connecting to mfsu.

It will just cycle the crystal in and out the enderchest.

I think I've taken you off track, the setup I gave you will charge the crystal and put it back in the chest, not discharge it. You can set a charge-o-mat to discharge by applying a redstone signal but be careful as it will output the energy at 2048eu/t so you'd need to transform it down. 2 charge-o-mats is getting expensive, much cheaper to use the redpower retrievers.

They're pretty much like a filter but they don't have to be touching the thing you're pulling from, they just have to be connected by pneumatic tubes.

Emit when empty is true when the storage unit cannot send a packet. For mfsu this is anything under 512. Mfe 128, bat box 32.

This is one of the places where BC pipes might actually be a better option. You can pull out of the bottom of the MFSU with a wooden pipe and also insert back into it with the same wooden pipe.

You'll have to set up a gate system to monitor when the inventory is full so you don't drop items but it's totally doable.

How could you with the same pipe? Is there a way to automatically change the directionality of the pipe? Seems to me (haven't tested) that you'd need two wooden pipes, with a connecting pipe in the middle, then use some kind of redstone signal to trigger the appropriate gate to pulse. It might be a little more resource intensive to set up, but the filter/retriever setup is pretty easy and compact.

You could hook it up with [MFSU] - wooden pipe - cobblestone pipe - wooden pipe - [Ender chest]. Pretty compact.

Thats what I figured, but you didn't elaborate in the initial message and I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on some functionality I wasn't aware of :D

shit, can't believe how simple this is, works nice with emerald pipe too, for filtering full/empty crystal.

Yeah, I've been using BC pipes a lot more in my current builds. I just need to figure out a good way to have an emerald pipe that selects any item, rather than all the items in the filter.
Can i get a graphical plz?

Here are various versions.

So this way is using 1 chest, that's ok, but... How do you control when the engine extracts the items.

Use autarchic gates. Probably Gold autarchic gates. It'll take a while to explain how those work, you're going to want to look them up online. Here's a decent basic tutorial on it.

Autarchic gates act like a redstone engine, but are wrapped around the pipe. With the gold version you can set it to activate (pulse) when there is a specific item in the inventory the pipe is attached to.

Yeah they're getting better all the time. Emerald pipe is very limited but great for single item. I've changed my rp2 battery system, will show it in my next lp and make sure I give credit :)

If using 1 single item emerald pipes works nice, you can just have an engine on it or a gate set to pulse all the time or whenever there is something in inventory, can only have 1 crystal in the system though, I'm using only 1 bt battery in this:transfer.jpg and it is working very well. With same system at opposite end but using the top slot of the battery box to charge the batery.
