Just setup my MFR treefarm in my 1.7.1 DW 1.2.1 modpack. And have 420RF in power. Is the harvester made really much slower or what am i doing wrong?

I believe the Harvester receives penalties now if filled with Sludge. Simply attach a void pipe or similar to destroy it.

Urgh. Don't destroy the sludge. It produces clay and that's still very valuable. Just gotta pump it away from where you're working, because of the poison.

Most people do, but it's one of those things I don't think can ever be stated often enough. I know I always forget.

I generally don't bother because I simply don't use that much clay, I create it with UU-matter or the modpack have Pam's Clay spawn.

But have recently been considering doing it again simply as a source of dirt, sand etc. since I stopped quarrying in favour of MFR laser drills(not that I really need it, but weee automation! :p).

I actually had a world where I used it as my outer wall. I had previously used dirt, until the Endermen stole a section and let zombies in. Doesn't look too bad actually. Especially not if you mix in some Sandstone.

I used to do that, until I found out Mekanism has a way to make clay from water and dirt, using two machines called the Rotary Condensentrator and the Chemical Injection Chamber. The former makes water vapor from water, and the latter combines that with dirt to make clay.

@rhn:
Thanks for that tidbit of info. My EnderIO farming station uses up way too much power and dealing with the durability concerns is a pain. Now I can switch back.

Totally not worth it. I use a void pipe for MFR sludge to keep the Harvester running at full speed without the need for sludge processing, then if I need clay I use a Clayconia plant from Botania for an instantaneous conversion of sand->clay balls.
