So I can't decide how I want my door done on my house. I've considered doing a frame door but I just don't know that I want a door that slow. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Right now it's just a 3x3 with half slabs on top/bottom so mobs can't walk in.

3x3 is small enough for many of the old school piston doors. Faster then frames but takes up a bit more room.

Hmm. Trying to think.

Wait.

It explodes a doorway whenever you step on a pressure plate, and rebuilds it when you're through?

Oh nice. Rig up something like block breakers and deloyers maybe?

Maybe. I was thinking a physical explosion, maybe TNT and blast-resistant blocks for precision? Though block breakers also work.

TNT would be aweome actully. Then use maybe a basalt or smooth stone generator to rebuild it when you want to close it.[DOUBLEPOST=1363576599][/DOUBLEPOST]
Just use mystcraft to go through, man. All you need.

Ohh or a portal gun. Put a portal on each side of the wall.

Totally unnecessary, you could just remove the wall entirely for the same effect.

Which makes it even more awesome!

Back to the TNT idea, I was, in fact, thinking about using a Golem to pick up the debris and rebuilding the door from that. But TNT doesn't drop 100% of the destroyed blocks, so that probably wouldn't work.

Personally, I'd add a single iron door in the middle with an obsidian pressure plate on the outside, and a stone pressure plate on the inside.

Simple, effective, and cheap.

Disapearing blocks? I have not seen these yet. Where in TF ar they?
Not sure. I never do TF because all i can ever seem to find are those stupid little houses. The blocks are called Reappearing block and Vanishing block. There's an invert of the Vanishing block. You right click them and the make any other vanishing block disappear for a short amount of time

If you are playing ultimate, you could use the secret camo blocks! IT would look so cool to just walk through some blocks.

Force field door -- camouflage in a block you like.

I might if I can get it to look right but a solid wall just seems odd unless I can find the right colors to mesh with it.

Normally I would but the walls are only 1 think so it couldn't be concealed without adding another layer or two to the house.

I will definitely do this if I find the right color for the wall. ITNT(or sticky dynamite) is what you're looking for though. I'll just need a deployer on a piston or frame then a golem to harvest and replace. Very intriguing.

Effectiveness means little. I try to lean more towards what looks better.

This is another very interesting idea that might be what I use for my preferred door and the golem for my showy door.

I've never actually heard of these what mod adds them?

Thanks for all the replies.

You can generate basalt?
Two ways: 7 cobblestone with a minium stone or a vanilla RP2 basalt gen which you can find on youtube. The latter is extremely slow but requires no further input while the former needs a replacement minium stone now and then.

Basalt generator with one thermopile is slow, but not with 22 12. http://imgur.com/a/abQmS . It is a little bit expensive, specially counting vertical repeaters, but I couldn't get anything better working with water that will spawn from snow. 3 deployers with snowblocks per generator activated by not so fast timer (20 s), block breaker is activated only when basalt appears to not break flowing lava, that's why repeaters are there. Snow generator is controlled by packager pulses, item detector is there to resume generation if there is space for snow.
