I've been googling forgcraft and haven't found anything... Could you please give me a link?

... Or are you talking about forgecraft?

Just look in the IC2 addons it's just came out and the newest release although actually added the table and fixed things up forgot to name everything so yea.. the guy will make it for 1.6+ too.

Wait wait wait, I saw "frogcraft" but surely that's not what you're talking about (you mentioned "forgcraft" in other threads)

First of I didnt read 6 pages so no idea if this has been said, but for me the main reason to use AE over logi-pipes is the entities in pipes, this will maybe not be an issue in 1.6+ but atm lots of entities in pipes can lower the frame rates, & seeing as this is the whole reason why we use them, for sorting & storing huge amounts of items from quarry or bore & the likes, oh & for sorting bees AE works well to, but I yet to find a way to make a cloner purely with AE, I would guess it would be easy just as easy with logi-pies as it is with api pipes & gates.

I have been watching this thread with great interest because I have finally been persuaded to add logistics pipes to my pack. I'm coming to the conclusion that the 'vs' that is referenced in the thread title is the good kind, like Nicky Romero vs Avicii. I am still clueless about Logistics pipes but fortunately for me and others who are interested Direwolf20 has just released the first episode of a multipart Logistics pipes spotlight.

hmm. ive yet to use AE, but it looks like it could be a pain if power is a problem. i used logistics pipes back in technic (before i decided it was 100000x better to play online) and i would mk1 chasis (i think) with polymorphic item sink to sort stuff (put one item in the chest its connected to, and all other items that go through the log. pipe system get put in there) then connect a suppler pipe to each chest which would connect to a single chest in the middle, where a request pipe was so i could go "oh, ill take 10 diamonds and some food"

logistics pipes are a bit wierd at first, but you can do awesome things with them :D

That's alright, i just wanted to make sure NOBODY UNDERESTIMATES THE POWERS OF AE LIKE I USED TO BEFORE I TRIED IT :p.
AE's power to manipulate items is nothing compared to LP. LP is far more detailed and gives you far more control over items.

AE and LP are also fundamentally different mods. LP is mostly about sorting. AE is mostly about mass storage and auto crafting. They have many things that are similar but it's like comparing TE to IC2 because a couple machines have similar functionality.

AE is in no way a pain yep the power required is a lot at times, I a diamond for high end buses, balances it out for what it can do, but NO entities in pipes wins for me, from what I remember about logic pipes there awesome for a small sorting room, but for bees or large sorting not great, for a large factory could be a bit of a fps killer, basically the more items you have moving around pipes the worse it get & we all go big dont we ?.[DOUBLEPOST=1375643337][/DOUBLEPOST]
That's what i love about it. It's simplicity and easiness-to-learn is also a big factor.

Thats also a big plus its intuitive, learn the basics the rest falls into place, yet the power for automation in huge, only a couple of things I found cant be automated with AE.

Yea but AE is so stupid at not able to craft up things from difference recipes for same outputs. Logistic pipes you can do just that And proprieties crafting recipes! Ever hate when you had your UUM ate up cause dumb AE won't balance out the mix of tiny piles and UUM? Logistic pipes you could have two crafting tables for the job and just give the UUM table very low proprieties to make sure UUM will be consumed if there no other options. However now I'll take a day or so just to setup all the tables, config them, crafting pipes config, and then finally hooking it up to AE. Then I'll have to do the same thing for the machines. At least you can then avoid most of constant energy draw. LP will only use power when it's needed cause it's ridiculous that AE is now needing almost a dedicated HP boiler just to keep it going..

Showing items in the pipes isn't very costly. The Item Pipes use the least CPU and bandwidth (rendering the items is trivial), of all the pipes.

So, my thoughts on the subject.

In compactness, AE wins, period.

In power use, LP wins, as it doesn't require power except when you're actively moving items. This means that you can (ex) leave your system on in a partially chunkloaded area without issues. You can also access your items without power manually, which can be useful.

In convenience, LP wins. It is a lot easier and faster to use an ender chest + remote requester, and you don't need to worry about where you are to use it.

In flexibility, LP wins. Satellite pipes and provider pipes in particular are cumbersome and expensive to imitate with AE.

All in all? I'm trying an AE network now, but as soon as I get slightly more established I'm ripping it out and replacing it with a LP system. In particular the "access items and craft from anywhere" I cannot live without.

Crafting with priority is coming soon.

I don't mind. A single 3x3 MFR Oak farm can keep with like 7 boilers. Without factoring in boifuel. Personally I:

1 Boiler for MFR machines and farm.

1 for my ForceField TPlane Bore

2 for Machines

1 for AE.

2+ for QRings. Which is mandatory because of my Cloud Computing Center.

I can put the reason for it's simplicity to learn down to the fact that it has had a FRIGGING RECENT SPOTLIGHT! Logistics pipes has a lot of spotlights too, but they're mostly in Spanish, and even those peoples have no idea what they're doing. It makes me cry a little.

Is the thing where AE autocrafting stops for no good reason a multiplayer thing. Maybe I'm just lucky but it has never happened to me on singleplayer. Or maybe I just don't use it enough.

Before I ask my question I should point out that I too Ike the combo of LP and AE even though, at the moment, I'm solely using AE...mostly because I still have to add LP.

What I didn't like about LP in the 1.4.7 days was the combo with BC pipes and spilling items on the ground once an inventory was filled up. What I'd be interested in is whether that has been resolved in the new LP?

Cheers,
Bel*.
