Problem Log in message

I was wondering if there was anyway by default to add a log in message to the chat, kind of like the waypoint loading for Rei's except set by me. If not is there a mod that I can use that will allow me to do so. Also I know this is not based on bukkit what is the server based on so I can look for mods on my own. I inherited this server so I'm not 100% sure about all the details yet.

There are a few forge compatible "essentials/commandbook" type mods in development right now.

I went through their command lists real quick and it looks like Forge Essentials has a /motd function:

/motd [new motd]

Get the message of the day or set a new MOTD.

There's a way to use fihgu's mod to do it also, server I play on is vanilla FTB + fihgu and we have a joining message. Server owner asleep atm to ask.

They do have plans and a part of the code in the mod, but this is NOT functional in any current public release yet!
This info is from the dev team itself. I went to ask them just a minute ago to be sure.

"/motd function" is a FE command and it is the text you see under a server IP in the minecraft server list.
