This is my base. (As you can see, most of the time i'm spending with Thaumcraft, aside from a batbox+electric jetpack I haven't done anything with the other mods yet ^^)

My 'research' room.

There's an Infurnal Furnace to the left, with stairs leading to the top, 2 arcane crafting tables. A research table to the right and an Infusion Table+4 Crucibles in the middle. Behind me is an infinite water source for the crucibles.

The room which I store all my stuff from mining trips etc.

I've got chests for basically everything non-IC2/BC

My base is in a barrows hill.

Took me quite some time to purify the Dark Node to a Pure one, but I did it :) . Now, I've planted two Silverwood Trees against the massive flux that is generating when I research something.
The volcano behind the trees is most likely becoming to the base for IC2 and Nuke stuff.

Any recommendation to build? (Aside from making the entrance to my base prettier)

For research, you can add a bunch of things to increase your yields. A lot of them look nice, too, so it gives a bit less of a factory feel and more of a cozy-magic feel.
But it looks great!

What do you mean with 'you can add a bunch to increase your yields?' Because as i'm also quite new to Thaumcraft, I really don't know what you mean by that ^^
 
Having different blocks in the environment gives bonuses to researching certain aspects. The more of them nearby, the bigger the bonus. For example, water nearby boosts aqua, iron blocks boost metallum, and fire boosts ignis. There's a full list on the Thaumcraft wiki.

Yea, there's a thread that has all of them on here too. I don't TC much, so I don't have much knowledge, so I'll admit it was a crap-ly phrased suggestion :P
It's a good idea, but...the way I said it was bad :P

Considering that "Most everything is still a WIP" it's drop dead sexy.
Also your room image is missing.
All that patio needs is some chairs and smoothies. Or some beach chairs and some Pina Coladas.(forgive my inhumanly bad spelling here, my spell check is decidedly racist and is saying that I'm spewing gibberish again)

Wait, you generate flux when researching? I thought just when dumping crap into the crucible or using items that draw from the local aura. Am I a noob and missed this piece of vital info? Cause if so, either it is a relatively tiny hit or I've had my head so deep in pulling wings off insects and slicing up bits and bobs I missed the tiny wisp army I must have summoned...
 
Alright. So, round two of decorating a room in such a way that it doesn't look like complete ass.

I'm still up in the air about the walls and ceiling, but I'm pretty happy with how the floor turned out.
