We know why the shadows have been disappearing. They have a portal to another world.

It doesn't look like beings go out of the portal, in fact not even the shadows return.

We do not know as that would mean we had to go inside their settlement and that would be our death if not worse.

*Lenscas to the scout:*
Do you think they try to get help from that world?

If that is the case then I have no idea why nothing has come out of the portal. Unless they want to surprise us but how would they know when we are attacking? And even if they know the portal is small and thus you can't simply get a whole army though it.
My guess is that they are leaving this world and I hope for good.
*Lenscas:*
Then that other world is in danger.
I think we need to act fast.
If they are asking for help they might get it too late
If they are invading the other world the less shadows that can go though it the better.

But fewer shadows leaving the portal means more shadows in our world. And we are probably very outnumbered against the shadows. I don't think attacking the shadows head on would be the smartest idea.

Thats why we don't attack head on. Remember that we can walk though their walls.
