Xarias looks out his window looking over the city, his city. The sun gives off its last warmth for the day as it slowly sets. He wonders how long the world still has as he knows the sun will die soon. His best researchers are working on a solution, but he does not know if it will work. The only reason why he went with their plan was because there was no other solution and because he wouldn't mind the title "creator of worlds" or better said he would love to have it. He would love to be seen as a hero and to be praised as a god, he would do anything for it. And besides his kind has done things unimaginable before, why would this be any different he says to himself.
One of his workers enters the room: My lord, great news! The machine is almost ready, tomorrow the new world can be created and this world can be send back in time. However as already suspected the new world will most likely be dead and we would have trouble to sustain ourselves. Xarias replies: Well, a dead world is still better then none at all, now go and tell everyone who was selected this great news. The worker leaves and Xarias decides that it would be better to go to sleep early as tomorrow will be a long and exhausting day. As he enters his bed he can't believe it, that tomorrow it then finally happens. When he sleeps he dreams about this new world and how he will be praised as a god by his followers, how he will be seen as the hero.
The next morning he quickly gets up and he goes to the lab, he can't wait to see this new world. The selected men are already there, the machine to create the world gets activated and slowly the world gets created. Once the world is finally made, Xarias and his men enter the world. Of course he would be the first to go, as that is his full right.
The world is a wasteland with holes everywhere. The ground is hard and quite hot as if it was burning not so long ago the black spots on the ground confirm this. His men set up camp while he watches, there is no way back for him or his men but it is not like he wants to go back, all there is there is a world that will soon stop with existing. Tomorrow more men will come and the day after that his old world will be send back in time, this way they can return later to a world that is not a wasteland and live wealthy once more.
In the night someone heard a sound, he went outside to find a boy from another species. He gets the attention of the boy and leads him to Xarias as the emperor needs to know that live exist on this world even when according to the researches it would be impossible.
Once the boy is brought to Xarias he talks about how this wasteland once was full of life and what happened to it. Xarias can't believe it, he wanted to create a temporary world to live in while his old world gets send back in time, not destroy a perfectly fine world. If the citizens find out.... he doesn't even want to think about it. He asks the boy if there are more survivors left, yes is the answer he receives. It turns out they live not so far from here and they are not with many. The boy leads Xarias and his men towards them. Once there instead of helping, Xarias and his men kill the last survivors and hide the body's as no one would be allowed to find out or they would rage against him.
The following day went as expected more supplies and people came to the new world and the camp quickly grows.
