Ladders, pistons, elevators, turtles, minecarts, tnt, arcane things, how do you go up and down in your base? I'd prefer something fit into a 1x1 shaft but I can make it bigger for cool ideas. Lookin for both short 1 floor hops and bedrock-to-sky speed systems.

I have a floating islands base so I use a jet packs to get around. I made cool landing platforms on the edge.

On the inside I have arcane levitators.

Portal spawners: I always seem to run into dungeons full of them.

Otherwise, a fat spiral staircase for looks with a 3x3 central pillar containing a 1x1 shaft, which gets arcane levitators put in once I've researched them.

For sheer speed, which I rarely need in my FTB worlds, I do a minecart ladder. Bedrock to sky in seconds.

Jetpacks, big fancy stairways. Which I mostly don't use. Cause of jetpacks.
Yea, I mostly won't use it either, cause of jetpacks. It's mostly for show/coolness factor and maybe guests.

I like the hollow spiral stairs idea, I have a ginormous round tower a turtle built for me this will be perfect for.

I hate ladders so much. I design my bases to work with stairs or to be 1 story. Even my mines have stairs. Even when I did use arcane levitators, i positioned them in a stair like arrangement. lol

I currently have mfr elevators in one base, a redpower frame lift in another base and arcane levitators in another base and 2 mage towers.

can provide pics or vids of elevator or lift if anyone wants to see.

What mfr elevator are you talking about?

conveyor belts, left is up, right is down.

I have everything ground level, usually. In separate buildings. I'm thinking about using a cart system though. Or the Skyhook thing that one guy's working on.

A pair of arcane levitators with a pressure plate (and some wiring/logic) in front of the bottom one makes a perfect hands-free elevator. Walk int the bottom of the tube and you zoom up, walk into the top and it gently lowers you down. Bliss.

I really dislike the trudge from all the way to the surface to bedrock and back. I wish there was an early game fix for that but I can't think of anything reasonable. Stupid trudge.

For going down, there's always the water break. If you have IC power somewhere near, you can use a magnetizer to go up at the cost of some redstone and a stack or so of iron for the pole.

not so much on a server but if your in single player just make a boat-elevator. Look up and click your way to the top in secounds.

and a server you can make an old school water evelator too.
