Never played tabletop 40k myself but read almost every book written, would play nightlords, imperial guard or eldar if I ever had to pick a side

I still like ladders and other forms of vertical get you there and back devices!

If a game came out that replicated the tabletop exactly, down to building an army with certain amounts of points and being able to paint them, with even basic animations etc, I'd totally buy it. Esp if they added multiplayer... that would be absolutely amazing imo

I know it's not even close to the table top (Eldar, FTW) I did really enjoy Dawn of War.

it can't be too hard to replicate a dice roll after all.. theres a LOT less features in a game like this than there would be in say a modern shooter.

And would love to see Space Hulk done for modern computers.[DOUBLEPOST=1366210745][/DOUBLEPOST]

It would have to have killer graphics though, it would be fun to watch your dreadnoughts and titans crushing your enemies.

jeez I didn't even think of Titans.. the game would certainly need a zoom out button XD
I wen't to dragoncon once back in the day, there were 2 big pluses to that trip, I met Gary Gygax, and spent several hours watching a WH40k match that was using several large forces and each side had a Titan. It was awesome.

Honestly the name doesn't ring a bell
edit: googled and saw he was the inventor of D&D, a game I have never played in any of it's guises.

Are you sure? LOTS of MMOs & RPGs take their combat system(s) from D&D, at least partially. Btw I love how this thread has evolved.

I mean I've never played any game that was called Dungeons and Dragons. I've played games that may have been based off of it though

I played advanced D&D, I still have my gold edition books. I loved me some D&D
I still play D&D, 3.5 and 4th edition. Preety good to play with friends, but the following line came to mind (actually it's a comment of my friend - who was play as a ranger, I was the Dungeon Master):
"Isn't it wierd that every thing that's supernatural in this world and slow-paced and isn't tense is somehow a clue to what we have to do later?"
"That priest said we have to sacrifice someone to pass through the Gates of Mertdu"
"That was expect, after all. At least one has to make an heroic sacrifice to pass through anything that matters"
It actually mattered, but if you sacrificed yourself, the whole team would suffer the consequences.
"YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE SACRIFICED YOUR FRIEND! IT WAS A TEST!" I was pretending to be the Dark Magician of Ishnetja (a nearby tower full of doom).
Turns out that the guy was a rogue and managed to hang onto a ledge.
"OH YOU FREAKING BASTARDS!"
"See, that's why planned stuff never works."
Every single one on the game laughed.

One of the reasons (though there are quite a few) as to the cost is piracy. So many people rip off these products that they have to charge through the nose to recover production costs, of course this then forces more people to rip them off, which drives up the prices further. It's quite the vicious cycle. (I present any piece of Adobe software as evidence of this cycle)

Lol no. The cost is a simple consequence of a niche product. When your customer base is smaller, you have to charge more per unit to recoup the same costs of production/R&D.

It doesn't just apply to software. It's the same for any speciality machinery.

Totaly we all know the most advance CAD systems these days use Panada Tears to render objects.
