Hello everyone,

In my base I have an enderchest that i use to dump all my items from my inventory with an enderpouch. From this enderchest, the items i do not want get sorted in my chest room, the rest, like torches, planks and food must stay in it. How can i sort everything out except some items? Basicly, i would like to have an anti-emerald pipe, or something like that.

FYI, my temporary solution is to use an item loader next to the enderchest set to stock mode. It works, but it is very slow too. Also, i know i could have another enderchest/pouch but i already have 2, i do not want 1 more to keep in my inventory.

Are there any solutions?

If you enjoy buildcraft, diamond pipes do exactly that. Every side has 9 options as to what goes in it and if you need more slots, just add more pipes.

A diamond pipe will not work in your case, if I understand correctly what you're trying to do. GregTech Translocators have an inverted mode, in which they pull everything but the items in their filter.

Emerald pipes would do the opposite with BC, but I do not think they can be inverted.

You are right, i am not looking to filter everything that goes out, but actually to filter what stays in, ill have a look at the translocator. Thanks a lot.

No they do not. The emerald pipes are awesome but unfortunately cant be inverted...

Managers are probably the simplest. They will spit anything out of the chest that does not match their grid of items.

I think a 1 manager system is possible. Try golems to stock the chest and just use the single manager to spit out the non matching items. It can dump into a tube network or air gap to an obsidian pipe and a BC pipe network, or just onto the ground and have golems cleanup :p

I think the new advanced clay/stone golems can stock 3 items at a time for you. Or you can add managers to source chests and the connected tube network will keep the inventory at the levels you set.

hmm.. Actually I think emerald pipes could work if you're only using it for stuff like caving. It'd just be a pain to do as you'd have to tell them every single item/ore that's out there. Which would be possible.

Sorry for the first post. I kind of misread it as separating instead of keeping in.

The thing is, if i put 3-4 advanced golem on the same chest, those will take out the items the others must keep. That means golems are not a good solution for me.

Also, i've tried the managers. They work well but i want to be able to keep tools as well. Those managers remove the tools when they lose durability. I have not tried the translocators tho. I cant at the moment.

If anyone else has a suggestion, go for it =P

Ever thought of having a second enderpouch/enderchest with stuff in it you just have for re-supplying?

Clay golems will work together -- at least the normal ones. Didn't test a system with the new ones, but i had 8+ clay golems stocking an enderchest for me in a world a while back.

As i said at the begining, i already have a second pouch filled with thing i want to keep. I do not want a 3rd one to do it as I like to challenge myself on those kind of problems.[DOUBLEPOST=1363115466][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah, loaded up a test rig i had with the little clay golems and the advanced clay work the same just monitor up to 6 item types at a time.

You must have tested/tried stone golems. They work in reverse of clay and have no level set feature -- stone try to empty their assigned inventory to a marker, while clays try to fill their assigned inventory from markers. Clays you can additionally be set to store a precise amount up to a stack, which is typically exactly what you want.

Edit:
On the tools issue maybe add canvas bag to the manager and then store your tools in the canvas bag?

I can't think of anything other than the manager that acts like an inverted filter. Everything else i think works by pulling items you specify or everything. So you would need to setup filters, sorting machines, or emerald pipes with the list of all items they should pull from the chest leaving behind anything they haven't been told to explicitly remove.

Then use managers or golems to maintain the supply level you want for the items you keep.

Actually, i have tried the canvas bag a long time ago, but the same problem occur with the tools, their ID or whatever it is called change with the number of items they keep, that means i cant keep a canvas bag either.

Edit: and for the solution to filter everything up, it is pretty much impossible because i throw in it an almost infinite amount of different items, from micro-blocks to bees.

Checked canvas bags and they work fine. Their ID does not change by items added or in inventory only by color you dye them.

So if you have that color canvas bag in the manager it will allow it to stay in the chest.

Two modes for the manager -- precise level or allow infinite of the types in its filter. Infinite mode if you add items back that have already been restocked then the extra will just stay in the chest cause the manager does not care (infinite) and clay golems only stock. This works good for bags though, so you can several safe bag colors.

Manager in precise mode, then it will remove items if the stack is too high. This works well with the golems and the player if you grab say a stack a beef and the golem restocks, but later you add your beef back. The manager will kick out the extra beef back to the tube network. Doesn't work great with bags though as it will kick out bags beyond the first of that color but you can still have multiples just have to put multiples of them in the manager.
Example:

Overall pretty decent.
