Seems like a lot of effort when a HV transformer accepts any EU size packet, translating it down to 512. That along with judicious use of transformers elsewhere will cause machine loss to be zero (other than the ones you hit with a pickaxe)
When I upgrade my EU mainline to EV, then I'll be using HVs, but for now a little extra gold/copper cabling is cheaper. As with many things in Minecraft, there's more than one right way to do things.

Nerdnosyd, don't feel bad, the entire mod is designed to troll people and make others feel superior. Things blow in the rain? fucking news to me man, and I've watched no less than 10 spotlights on this mod. This stuff is nowhere apparent btw, I had to actually search "rain" (why the HELL you would do that PRIOR to losing god knows how much work to rain is a good question) and even then it's only mentioned as the very last item of note on the inventory manager?! (http://gregtech-addon.wikispaces.com/Electric+Automation) This is beyond counter-intuitive, he has a machine that ONLY works in the rain.

The entire mod is a troll.

Yea, this was a cautionary tale and I'm taking heed, thank you Nerdosyd. I'd been preparing to finally get into it cause I've been so buildcraft heavy after going from 1.2.5 to 1.4.x, and had never heard of this rain bullshit. I'm just gonna save myself grey hairs and never touch it. Greg's a prick anyway, his forum SIGNATURE is cutting down Thermal Expansion (the most beloved and user-friendly mod going atm) and promoting his hack on tesseracts. Fuck Greg and his mod.
