Only weird thing i found on managing reactors at the slot level was the slots are numbered based on the full 6 chambers, so even with 0 chambers the first slot in the second row is 9.

Advanced regulator is just a buffer inventory on the left. Then in the middle grid you put up to 9 ghost items. In the right grid you select the slot that the item in the middle grid should get placed in. Compared to the rest of gregtech's machines the regulator is pretty straight forward.

That's the thing. I know what you said. It just never did anything. It was powered, connected, and stocked. All the GT automation seems to work about 40% of the time and then just stop working. I know it has like 60sec sleep periods, but on our server even after total re-installs and config tweaks it would still just silently fail to do things. The automated machines wouldn't even consistently deliver their goods to chests. So on 3 occasions I had breeder reactors basically stop breeding because that regulator wasn't working right.

So either I used it wrong (in which case it's pretty hard to use; I'm not exactly bad at using modded minecraft and I read all greg's posts on the subject) or it just doesn't work consistently. Either way that makes it tough to justify given how expensive it is.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment here that nuclear reactors need a buff. Make no mistake, they're awesome, and they can generate a ton of EU without requiring much in the way of fuel, but their upfront costs are just backbreaking, compared to the energy you can get out of them. Most well-designed high-output reactors will set you back anywhere from 600 to 1000 copper per unit, while an equivalent thermal generator array will cost maybe a quarter of that much iron, and far, far less copper. It basically forces you to centrifuge lava to keep up with the copper costs.

Corroded super bees with 18 frame housings may be a little help with the copper cost.

Granted, but your substituting the massive copper investment with a much larger investment of time in breeding the damn things and all of the other infrastructure necessary to make a superbee and alvearys.

Yeah it takes a little bit of time and resources to get the extra bees machines but to be honest it totally pays off when your super bee is working with a fully supercharged alveary producing ore faster than a quarry ever could get you.

I have two interesting ways of producing energy. Tier V Zombie spawner->Industrial centrifuge-> Methane goes to the gas turbines or Boilers.
or.. Diesel Generator-> Oil fabricator-> Refinery->Diesel Generator
Alternatively.. Combustion Engine -> Oil fabricator -> Refinery -> Water + Fuel -> Combustion engine <--- This option is harder to set up, but outputs in total more energy than the first option.

Or you can use a bunch of generators, connect an electric furnace for each, and have the furnaces to mass produce charcoal. For each charcoal burned, you have enough EU for 10.25 operations. Given a pair of Forestry Old Farms (which are better than the new ones), one producing peat and the other producing trees, you can have a small-cost and no need-to-watch EU with a total surplus of 37 sufficient operations or 14430 EU with one generator and four electric furnaces.
Isn't mid-teir (interconnection and creative generation of EU) GregTech/IndustrialCraft power generation lovely?
Even better, you could use my automated setup for cleaning flux and massively producing alumentum to generate 4 times as much with a renewable resource!
Really, it's preety good to see that so many mods can be interconnected and you don't even need to focus on them all.
So, in this contraption, you must use 5 mods (IC2, RedPower2, Forestry, Thermal Expansion, Thaumcraft 3) to generate a fuckton of power with low cost itens.
Damn, that's cool.

In response to the OP no: There is NOT an objectively best power source because there are many different types of power sources (Factorization Power, EU, MJ, UE Power, etc.)
Also, everyone likes playing their own way so one person may think solars are cheaty while another may feel that Boilers are cheaty..
Anyways yea :)
