In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

Its called the Unhinged Pack

The Unchinged modpack is very limited, around 1/3 of the mods in DW20.
for what purpose i wonder? and what is so important about it?
It's convenient, and that's just one mod that makes use of the api.

I stay at my opinion that IC2 is an awesome mod and important mod. After all IC2 with BC was the first thing I started playing after purchasing Minecraft in the very early beta.

and what`s so convenient about forestry using IC2 api?

I seriously doubt Forestry needs IC2. It will probably just disable the Electric Engine when it can't find IC2.

This.
Also it only does this because of the IC2 api :3 without the api it would get a NoClassFound error ^^

from what i can remember, forestry`s site says that when IC2 is not installed, biogenerator and electric engine just dont do a thing.
that`s the only relations between Forestry and IC2 that i see. perhaps, there is more, but i cant get the answer from frederikam :(

Maybe the IC2 integration in forestry isn't that big a deal, but I really like the IC2 machines over the machines from TE. And I prefer my quantum suits over those modular powersuits, the concept is good but it's not very convenient.

Playing unleashed right now without any IC2 and related mods whatsoever. Man, it feels really odd...but I'll give it a shot to see how easy it is to generate MJ without abusing Ultimate hybrids > electrical engines.

IC2 integration in Forestry? what`s that supposed to mean? from what i can see there is only IC2 support, added by Forestry.
and how is that not a big deal already? you did say that it was something important.

MPS pwns quantum armor at everything. it`s thought requirement inconvenience is a fair price to pay, for what it does,

If you want ultra fast smelting without IC2, why not use a minium stone? Its less fuel efficient but it is instant, and if you put it in an automatic crafting table (immibis' one from tubestuff is perfect for this) then it is easy to use in bulk.

The advantage of the induction furnace is that it is just one block.

If you must smelt a ton of things with only one block on your machine wall then you could have an enderchest that goes to a room with as many powered furnaces as you feel necessary. With hoppers and TE mechanics (or AE) it is also really easy to set a furnace to process huge amounts of materials in the background and then spend a few minutes doing something else.

Personally Lava is the simple but effective solution, with EE3 in place you can easily get to the nether before even getting diamonds. which is a plus as the nether is no longer end game. I do enjoy the options but after finding out the hassles of reactors and the slow gain I quickly upgraded to advanced solars for my EU production but found that it also crippled me because I was dependent on that. Lava is def a forgettable power source, moreso if you have a lava mystcraft age, that only needs a rare maintanence every so often but if you're like me I always have spots mapped out and ready to go before hand so it's as easy as transfering equipment from one spot to another. MJ is the standard, I'm happy sticking to it.

Getting to the nether requires only four iron and one flint. Make a bucket and mold a nether portal in-place with ten buckets of lava and one bucket of water, flint and steel to ignite.

You can actually do it with just the bucket if you use a flammable block inside the nether portal frame and use an 11th bucket of lava to set the flammable block on fire; it will spread to the portal.

Unhinged is only Greg's vision of IC2. I want to be able to play Gregtech with some of the removed mods and have an option for vanilla IC2.

Dartcraft. Set up a quarry to get ~200 force gems. Squeeze and send them into a tank. Use a rancher for infinite milk. All force engines produce 10MJ/t as long as you can supply the squeezer with force gems.

Not using GT but using Dart is like reversing the polarity. Just use Forestry.

The electrical engine is a piece of IC2 integration, the same for the biomass generator. It's actually using code from the IC2 api. Much like how Forestry integrate Buildcraft pipe functionality in the apiarist's pipe.

I personally think that Modular power suits are inconvenient because of the movement, controls and such. After playing around with the mod in survival I decided to wait to I get the resources for a quantum suit. Also the Modular power suits are a bit too cheap, requires some copper and stuff here and there and then you can just overclock it to something extreme.

By "important" I meant that I find the mod an important piece of my gameplay experience.

I still find the 20 items/s a favourite speed of mine. :p It's silly, but with most of my builds, I had a preference of speed over everythign else. :p

I'd much rather have a way of overclocking one of the MJ furnaces though.
In general, I wouldn't mind losing EU entirely. I don't overly like the MJ system, but IC2 has too meny basic problems and remains unchanged for ages.
(That Wrench, cable losses, voltage explosions. The very unfun niggly mechanics that should be dropped or redone into something fun.)
