I think I'm going to do something completely crazy...

Meh, the most that Natura adds are deadly / annoying mobs like Heatscar spiders and similar things. Tbh, I keep it around because it's interesting to have all the nether mobs that it adds around.

and it makes the nether an annoying place to be rather then a place i love.. in my oppinion :) it is always the first mod i remove followed by tinkerers constructs (i love the idea but those slimes annoy me so much)

You can disable or severly reduce the frequency of slime islands littering the landscape. I made them occur 1/6th as often and it is much more tollerable. Also reduced natura cloud frequency to nearly nothing so the same athestetic reasons.

The blue slimes were much worse before the change to slime islands (I think they were spawning at a rate grater than all the AM2 mobs put together), & I really like being able to grow green slime from saplings. I think Natura's tainted soil annoys me more than anything else from that mod, although it looks like the clouds really screw up the image you get from the open blocks height map projector (poor XBCrafted's base looked like it was hidden under a pile of salad in one of his recent videos). One of the challenges for me this map will be finding alternatives or doing without those few key features I've come to rely on from all the mods I've cut. So far it looks like the biggest downside will be loosing all that world gen to scan for thaumcraft research points. I may actually have to make a deconstruction table & go back to sacrificing materials to complete all the research. The upside? I can actually play the game properly on my underpowered laptop again! I think I might even get better frame rates while recording walk-throughs for the community showcase.

I'm fiddling with some of the configs before I start this new map. I just allowed portal guns to spawn in ALL the chests! There are apparently 10 types of loot chests in the game, default is set to only spawn in dungeon chests. I was wondering why I never find any mod loot in the new nether fortress chests...

Oh my yes. That's the second change I make right after doubling the chest size of ender chests to a double chest. I need space for all my mod tools in my ender pouches. Portal guns also make for great temporary early game chunk loaders if you have that config option enabled as well.

Something I enjoy with natura is trying to blow up an entire cloud with tnt (with as few tnt as possible) but you can only manually detonate one tnt

Speaking of Crazy things we do, I was thinking of removing TCon next build. It's tools are a bit too good IMO for the costs. Most of it I like, but those tools don't break, they stop working, and "enchanting" them is super easy and all but free, including the ability to get fortune 5 IIRC from one lapis(if you don't mind mining for a while).
Also:
With the mob AI in 1.6.4, it looks like this isn't really effective for Enderman hunting any more. I only had ~6 spawn the 1st night (got plenty of everything else), & all of them teleported away without attacking when stared at. Now if you needed a zombie farm your first day...
I really wish Project: Red would hurry up and add the Athane again, that was a great tool if only just for killing endermen.

I'm currently playing with just Buildcraft, Railcraft and Thaumcraft and really loving it. I think Buildcraft and Rotarycraft have the coolest looking pipes, I just wish RotaryCraft's machines looked more Steampunk as I really feel like that mod is *meant for* Steampunk.
