How do u make silverwood staff, thaumcraft 4

I been playing direwolf20 mod pack, mostly on thaumcraft 4 and eventually i got to state where i was going to make better wand/staff.

first thing i noticed is that staff vis cost for building is pretty high... im trying to make silverwood staff with thaumium wand caps but i need 115 vis to build this thing... and i noticed there is no wand that hold over 100 vis except that final wand that can carry 1k vis...

How do u make silverwood staff in thaumcraft 4??

i mean i made blaze staff that can carry 175 vis but it seems workbench wont take the staff... plz help
 
Thaumium bossed silverwood wand + thaumaturgist's robes should provide enough of a vis discount to get the cost sub-100.
 
You cant craft staffs with SilverWood and Thaumium, just yet, Azanor is planing on adding higher storage wands, Dw20 said that in the 4.1 Spotlight.
 
You *might* be able to craft it using the goggles from blood magic along with a wand focus with frugal III. It is the highest discount possible outside using an ichorium wand from thaumic tinkerer.

Wand focus doesn't affect cost to the best of my knowledge, though I could be mistaken. On the other hand, an Ichorium wand from TT shouldn't have a problem.

Wand foci with Frugal enchant DO affect the cost. Also remember that you need a thaumatic harness since it gives a greater vis discount than the robes, and be sure you are wearing goggles of revealing since those count as the robes headpiece
Also if you are using ichorium wands arent silverwood staves irrelevant? :P

The staffs are also swords so you can save space on your hot bar

Meh, IMO ichorium wands will always be carried for recharge purposes, so using a stave is irrelevant.

and using thaumosatic harness instead of robe torso
 
actually the wand foci don't affect the cost, with and without a focus with frugal III it's 115.2 for a thaumium capped silverwood staff. also the harness only has an increased discount on aer, so it probably wouldn't make much of a difference in terms of acquiring the staff.

1st, an end to confusion: the primal staff is a hidden research I haven't unlocked yet, so I had to go into creative test to see what you were looking at. Sadly, I don't know how to get any greater discounts than those already mentioned.

About the wand focus: It looks like it can ONLY have the frugal enchant to get the discount in the arcane worktable. Having frugal & potency together doesn't work.

So the big question is, why isn't there a primal wand?

I made one in creative mode and it seems completely the same if you added the silver caps rather than the thaumium. Like, no seeable difference. so i guess he saw no point in it so he made it uncraftable.
 
I think its a balance option actually

The staff core of the primal creates a staff which regenerates up to 25 vis of every type for free, plus can go up to 250 vis. Add caps which add a huge discount to that? well of course everybody will use it

It's balanced for vis discount or vis regeneration, not both.

How much Vis can a silverwood staff hold? Not wand, staff.
 
I went from Thamium wand directly to Ichor, and i did only have a full thaumaturges set and goggles. Then i got excactly 100 of each
