Ichor? is that Thaumatic Tinkerer? The point was not to have to use other mods i think.

Not telling that you need to use Thamic Tinkerer but you get a good vis discount with THaumium silverwood wand and full thaumaturges armor and goggles

the point is thaumium capped primal staffs are uncraftable even getting the most possible vis discounts you get unless you have mods, the question was why do they make it unobtainable unless you have other mods? Why not have a primal wand?

I think its a balance option actually

The staff core of the primal creates a staff which regenerates up to 25 vis of every type for free, plus can go up to 250 vis. Add caps which add a huge discount to that? well of course everybody will use it

It's balanced for vis discount or vis regeneration, not both.

Isn't 25 vis kinda chump change, though? I mean, wow, that's as much as my iron capped wooden wand could hold, boy, something to write home about!
Unless it generates those 25 Vis really quickly, I'd still say it's chump change when your staff holds 250 Vis(hey, 25 Vis is 10% of 250 Vis now that I think about it).

Are you saying that a wand cap with just the Frugal III enchant doesn't give a discount?

As others have stated, unless you can get enough of a discount(in TC4.1 alone), then the primal staff is out of reach apparently needing 125 vis of every type and the silverwood wand apparently only holds 100. Max decreases allow for you to have a thaumium banded silverwood staff(which is pretty sweet), but one can't place staffs in a crafting thingy, apparently, so actually getting a thaumium banded primal staff is impossible with TC 4.1 alone, apparently.

EDIT: Unless... What IS the max level of Frugal? I don't mean max "I just enchanting this in my table" or "#Infusion Enchanting 4 Lyfe!", I mean what is the actual native limit? There are enchantments in vanilla that seem to cap out at 3 or 4 but actually go up to five, and getting there requires some enchanting trickery to get past this soft cap.

No, you missed my point. Not using Infusion, not using a "vanilla" enchanting. But using those vanilla tricks to get past the native soft cap.
IIRC it involved using enchanted books and combining them somehow to get a slightly higher enchantment level. IIRC you had to enchant something then use anvils and enchanted books to send it a bit further.

Its REALLY difficult to get frugal books. and slightly impracticle to try and get 2 frugal ones.

That's hardly an excuse when we're playing Modded Minecraft.
I can easily get 1 if I use immibis's liquid XP and only enchant foci this way, and I can get a handful more by using BiblioCraft and using a printing press with an enchanted chase with that book.

The point is to not use other mods remember. If we have to install mods just to see if its possible isn't that a little... odd... like the developer didn't want that to happen.
