Ore spawn configs in FTB are seldom default. Especially if one mods ore messes with another mods balance.

In this case they're close to default though. Fresh download of Horizons, the only thing changed in the Metallurgy configs seems to be setting vanilla ores to their normal spawn heights and maybe tweaks to veins per chunk. Everything else is Metallurgy's default random spawning

Oh wow. Horizons uses metallurgy for vanilla ore spawn?

Welp, enjoy +30-50% more ores than you expected. :) We're actually considering moving METALLURGY spawns to cofh world custom gen to avoid the bugs we hit.

Wow, what's it doing wrong this time? It's seemed pretty good since the common ores were moved out, other than drowning in potash

And you need that 30-50% more when it's so randomly strewn about that you can never find what you need

The bug happens when the ore generation hits an air gap. It goes totally nuts trying to compensate. The result is that cave-ish areas have much denser ore.

We migrated to COFH (+30-40% above their base spawn) for basic ore spawns an it worked way better.
