I'm not going to lie, I am definitely a little surprised at the lack of Actually Additions and Immersive Engineering, as they were some of the first (especially AA) to be forward thinking and develop for 1.11 and 1.12 alongside 1.10, so to see them omitted (again, thinking of AA in particular here but IE as well) strikes me as almost... unfair? I guess? There's some really interesting new stuff in the later versions of AA that weren't in the 1.10, including new crystals and such, and I'm pretty sure that's true for IE as well. *shrugs* If the argument is that they were used a lot in the 1.10 era, I agree - but the Thermal Suite was used to death before that. Still, I'd never argue for it to not be in there, because that too has really had an interesting rework, and has a fair bit of new stuff in.

I'll sort of accept AA a tiny bit because I don't recall seeing it in an FTB pack before, but immersive engineering is in every pack everywhere. The point of horizons packs was always to show people something they might not have seen before, and I challenge you to show me a seasoned modded minecraft player who hasn't done a bunch of IE before.

I agree that that makes it a bit harder to justify the TE suite, but at the end of the day we still need regular logistics of some sort, and TE probably gets the most aggregate points for "new in this MC version and handles all basic logistics in a stable manner" even if those points aren't super high.

A stronger argument might be Mekanism since it really is never in an FTB pack and does logistics, although I'm given to understand that its stability is questionable.

You know what, that's entirely fair - I was kind of hedging with IE anyway ;) I guess it still feels fairly new to me because I've only played with it a couple of times. I've still never built an Arc Furnace, and only did an Excavator in Beyond.

Now there's a point! Mekanism, despite being quite old really, is still not super familiar to a lot of people. I hear things about its stability, but I've not encountered any issues in 1.7 (well, in Regrowth, the first time I've ever played with it first hand since Voltz). I don't know how it's been in 1.10+ though. Its definitely less wobbly than TechReborn from what I can tell :D I've personally enjoyed Mek a lot more than I anticipated, to the point where I've basically eschewed the magic side of Regrowth almost completely and gone heavy down the tech route because I like it so much.

Its a nice mod list though. I haven't experienced Astral Sorcery yet, so I'd like to give that a try! Likewise Evilcraft - it looks like its even bloodier than Blood Magic!

OMG I have to say I just did my usual Modpack Showcase & I have to say the pack ran super smooth. on loading in I was at like 100 fps while it was loading. Really good. Anyone else notice how smooth it was ranning? Also Machete FTW! Also Direwolf just did a Mod showcase for AS Gamer if that helps. Haven't watch it yet.

What is the recommended world type for this modpack btw?
Lost city BOP...rofl.

Even if they were to consider adding it, last I checked it wasn't available for 1.12+ yet.

Just because a mod is updated to the current modded version doesn't mean it is stable enough to be used in that version. The theme of Horizons packs has always been Mods no one uses type deal to get people using and learning new stuff. We really shouldn't be trying to get the same old stuff added in because we like it. We need to suggest mods that fall into the horizons pack theme. You can always just add in Mek for your self if it means that much to your.

There doesn't appear to be an official thread for this modpack anywhere, unless you consider this announcement thread. Why is that?
