Hey all!
I can see that people are having mixed changes with using our pack, as in what our packs add its yes the x64 textures but the animations we are are not intensive for the game to render and for the pre-loading. We also remove a few which are not needed, thus making the game to less with the pack. This is Vanilla though, regarding the modded side we heavily remove animations from some mods which we feel don't work or are not needed or we use a 4 tile animation for some liquids/blocks so it still has the effect but the game does not have to do much. Also with our modded support we work hard to make the textures look good for the Fanver feel but at the same time to not make the game have to work harder, in some cases this can't be done but this is one key aspect we focus on when making new modded support and the updating of the Vanilla pack.
I think that the FPS boost from Fanver is the decreased amount of animations we have in the pack, but the transparency and other texture tweaks we do the textures allowing the game to do less with rendering objects. Fanver does increase the RAM usage and CPU usage but you would normally find this with resource packs the higher you get in the resolution, this is why we stick to x64 as it suits "most" computers and allows people to still have the playable FPS but have some awesome textures. Going onto Optifine the Fanver Vanilla base is optimised for that product so people can enjoy the connected textures / random mobs etc.. So we do perform a lot of in house testing to make sure that we don't hit the FPS caps we have set ourselves. But we don't necessarily recommend using Optifine in some modded packs due to some incompatibilities but we don't force that to our users.
Regarding the Monster Pack from our in house testing there is a marginal FPS boost with using our pack but at the increase of the games work load, so the higher RAM/CPU load. But thats from our testing and from a few machines we have to test on.
So wrapping up in this I do believe that textures pack do improve the FPS for many variants of reasons from the removal of animations and texture tweaks from the packs and mainly the resolution you're playing on, but using some packs would increase the games "work load" but won't necessarily affect the FPS in game.
Any questions with what I have said just hit me up with them
