I'm trying to make a flying mobile mining platform using redpower frames, and a buildcraft quarry. In order for the platform to move, the quarry cannot be placed. I have made a system with a block breaker and a deployer to pick up the quarry for when it is moving, and replace it to mine.

The problem is that no matter what side the deployer is on, all the blocks picked up from the quarry are going into it, instead of the pipe on the top of the quarry.

help . . .

Solution: Another set of block breaker + deployer, which break/replace the original deployer.

Sounds fun!

Another deployer/breaker to break/deploy the deployer/breaker? :) haha

Or can you set a transposer to suck out of the deployer and put into your enderchest?

Either way, if the quarry sees the deployer as an adjacent inventory to dump into, the only other solution is to ask the mod author to change that.

Move the deployer with another frame arm?

You could try to use a relay instead of a pipe, it's got an inventory as well. I'm not sure how the quarry works when connected to two inventories, but if it only puts stuff into the first inventory it finds, then you just have to shuffle those two until only the relay gets the items

that's a great idea!

Another.. Will a sticky piston move the deployer? Would be cheaper then 2 motors.

is there a way to set up something like an inverse filter, that would take everything accept the quarry out of the deployers inventory?

Have another filter pull stuff from the deployer. Just make sure to turn it off temporarily when you're replacing the quarry so that it doesn't get sucked in.

Well.. quarry won't be in there when the filter needs to work, so why worry about it (but to answer your question you could use a GregTech Transposer I think its also called? Just keep the transposer disabled (it responds to a redstone pulse) when the system is moving.

The GT Translocator has an inverted mode, where it will only pull items that are not in its internal filter. However using that would mean you'd have to get IC power on your frame machine somehow.

TY for the suggestions. I was able to get it working with a filter, hooked it up to the redstone signal that turns on and off the engine powering the quarry.

We actually don't have gregtech on my server. Thought that the barrels and a couple other things were too cheaty. Didn't cost enough to make for the inventory space.

Barrels are from factorization... and the raw materials for 1 barrel is just under enough for 4 chests and it only stores 10 more stacks than 2 chests.

You can store more stacks per block using silver chests and above from the ironchests mod.

some times I get mod names confused. We didn't have gregtech installed because we were satisfied with the complexity level of IC2.

And yes, you might be able to store more per chest with the higher level chests. But they get expensive to make. which is what I ment by the barrel not costing enough for the inventory space. Especially with the upgrade to make it an infinite ammount. But that is just my opinion, which the co-owner of my server shares. Which is why we decided to leave that mod out of what we are using.

On the flip side, we are using logistics pipes. Which alot of other people call cheating, but in our opinion it isn't.

I found an interesting workaround. If you prefill the deployer with items not normally while mining, like red alloy wire, in 8 of the slots and put 2 quarries in the top left slot your deployer will deploy the quarry (facing north). The deployer will then be a "full" inventory and the quarry will send your items to the next available opening, be it a chest, a pipe, or the air. Now you don't have to move your deployer, but you still have to have two quarries.
