ohhhActually, files can be occasionally left behind that cause you to "run an older version" causing horrible bugs. You'll be running javaw.exe for u21 and accessing files for, say u10, if they are still on your computer.
I have no idea why this happens. I only see it happen on windows, and occasionally mac. I've never seen it happen on nix base due to how .rpms are handled.
This is why I keep telling myself I need to write a post for manually removing java from windows, but I keep forgetting.
