Still trying to find a seed, but maaan.. just popping into a few quick structures and villages that I couldn't resist and I can't believe how alive this world feels. This is gonna be freakin neat.

So, they're trying to see if they can get this to run on their old laptop. 6 gigs of RAM. Windows Vista. They can't even get twitch install to work. Will they need windows 7? They just wiped the thing back to factory settings.

I don't think twitch works well on Windows Vista. I played on Windows 8 and am on Windows 10 atm.

Anyone who hasn't tried this pack yet really should check it out. It's so far even better than Inaeo's post suggests.

Caveat: I haven't gone too deep into it. I'm still just setting things up. But here's what I observed:

-Recommend Faithful 32x for the texture pack. It should run fine on about any rig, and it still has that vanilla feel without looking like it came out of 1996. It also has support for like every mod, so unlike most texture packs, you don't get this weird patchwork effect when you're mixing mods

-At one point while flying around in creative just checking out some seeds, I wandered into a village to check out some buildings. It's neat, there's a bank with actual bankers that exchange different forms of currency, and the shops all sell legitimate goods, etc. All the villagers have names and occupations and you can chat with them. Sometimes they even chat with each other.

At one point, I noticed a kid kept coming up to me. I go to shake her hand and she's like "I wouldn't shake your hand if you were giving me a diamond" or some sassy thing like that, lol. I tested the "follow me" command and forgot to release the kid, not knowing she's show up wherever I was as I explored, like a pet. After going out on a little adventure, I bring the kid back home, which is funny because I was about to delete this world anyway! But, apparently she had fun on her adventure with good ole Uncle Bretto, because when I went to set her to go free, she's looking up at me with little hearts floating by her head and instead of being all sassy, she's like "I know someone that liiiikes you". It was kind of adorable, lol.

-I found a couple of little temples and there was a trap door with a ladder going underneath. Inside looked like a secret room you'd find in a Zelda game, with this golden trophy looking thing in the back of it. Presumably, there would be a fight here with a bunch of skeletons to get to it, but I was on creative so they just stood there. I picked up the item and apparently it's an equipable augment. I have no idea how it all works, but that's pretty cool. Very RPG.

-Wandered into a nice looking cathedral looking thing and when I got inside, it appears to be a hunters guild complete with NPC's practicing their archery and whatnot. It looks like a major quest hub, I think the one that Inaeo mentioned.

-I've used ATG before, but this is configured differently. It's utterly gorgeous. And it's neat because hills use grass half slabs for a more gradual incline. It looks great. I ended up setting up shop, as I tend to do, on an extreme hills biome. I wish I had taken a screenshot. It's gorgeous. I can't wait to explore the rest.

-The oceans were teeming with pirate ships full of pirates. That could be fun.

-The physics are different. Items fall to the ground like they would, rather that float there. It's neat on one end, but I could see it making it tougher to spot something to pick up, but it's neat.

-I had used dynamic surroundings before, too, but I didn't like it before and I like it here. I don't know if it's configured differently from default, or if it's me that's changed. It really does make it much more immersive, though. And I suspect this is what's giving me the battle music whenever there's a monster around, haha. Nice touch, and it will be helpful to not get snuck up on by a creeper!

All-in-all, this is looks like it's going to be really fun. I think I'm going to feature a lot of immersive engineering, which seems like exactly the kind of technology I am looking for. I've never worked with it before, though. I'm gonna look that up throughout the day.

I'm excited, though. This is looking like exactly what I was looking for.

Oh, and I had to pick a class. I'm going to start it all over when I get it up on a server, but I don't know the ramifications of picking my class at all. Anyone know of a good resource somewhere that might have tips on that?

The mod that handles that is called Level Up (https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/level-up). We are using the old (not rewritten) version, and details are under the spoiler tag on the Curse site.

Edit: If I recall correctly, the default keybind in Sprout is semicolon ( ; ). This is different than the default from the mod (L).

The quests should be per person, I think, as each player will need to talk to the Traveller at the Waystone of Origins (world spawn) in order to get your initial quests and a backpack of goodies.

The only quest I received from the Traveller was the bird nest one, and I never got a backpack of goodies? I went back to the Traveller once the bird nest quest was completed and he didn't offer any new quests or give me a reward, not sure what I'm doing wrong

Did you have a bird nest in inventory when returning? That should jar him into his next steps. I think he only had 2 quest lines with only a couple steps each, very great for early game but not much more.

Traveller should have three quests. First requires you to return with a Bird's Nest. The second requires you make a simple hatchet from some flint and a stick, then return before you use all of it's limited durability. The third has you making a set of basic flint tools (from Silent's Gems), which means you need to make a workbench, then return to turn the quest in.

I had my issues with using the quest items prior to turning in the quest when I first started - particularly the hatchet, as I rushed to chop trees, using all the durability. Patience is key, which fits the overall feel of the pack, in my mind.

I'm also doing Sprout, but in a very early phase right now. It runs pretty smoothly once I'm inside the game, but it takes an extreme amount of time to load. I think this issue might be caused by the small amount of RAM in my laptop. It only has 4GB :( , I think I should allocate more RAM to the profile.

Unfortunately, I've seen best results in the 1.10+ era using 6gb RAM dedicated to the client. Note that my processor was a hand-me-down from Moses, so your results may vary.

I have Intel i5. I played DW20 1.10.2 with 1GB ram allocated and although it loads pretty slowly, it's still fine. I might need to increase my laptop's RAM soon.
