Optifine is a gamble try without it. Second try some JVM args like @Qazplm601's. Third try bumping up the available RAM to 2.5 or 3 gigs
Hey Wolf,
Forgive my derpness, but for the Java Arguments, do I input them into the Advanced Options -->Additional Java Parameters? Sorry much of this Minecraft optimization is Greek to me.

Also, is there an easy way to disable optifine that I'm not seeing?
Edit again: Got optifine taken care of.. *pulls body into corner*

Soooo Jedi Master Wolf, I cannot copy and paste into the Java argument field... Is there a secret Jedi way to enter them there without having to type it in manually?

Also, should i be trying to make Minecraft run off of my GPU (Radeon HD 6700)?

Ok so I tested FTB: Monster with the Java arguments inputted. I also tested the allotted memory. I tried 1GB which was crappy as hell. I then bumped it up to 3.5 which wasn't smooth at all and seemed to lag more often but with less intensity as 1GB. I settled around 2 ~ 2.5 which seemed to yield the most consistent and playable results. I am still however getting lag whenever I access chests / ovens / crafting tables. I also have disabled optifine. Are there any other tweeks I could try out?

A big thank you to you guys as well, it was nigh unplayable before these fixes.

I have tried disabling NEI. It does help a bit. The lag doesn't disappear though. I'll try a few more things tonight. However, the game is definitely playable thanks to your help everyone, so thank you!

You can also make sure that the sounds of different mods are disabled(know that IC2 and Railcraft among others have configs for this). Sound system is horribly optimized in MC, so disabling as many sounds as you can will grant you a lot of performance.

You can also disable the flashing of cables in the Applied Energistics config(helps a bit if you got large ME networks as every single cable in loading range is rendered). Also Forestry has options to disable particle effect for bees. These are small things that doesn't add a whole lot to the game IMO and can be disabled without much loss.

How do i go about disabling sounds?
You find the correct line for it in the the mod in questions config file and change it to true/false depending on how the author set it up.

For example from the Railcraft config:
Code:
    #
    # change to 'play.sounds=false' to prevent all mod sounds from playing
    #
    B:play.sounds=false
}

Thank you rhn. I'll try this tonight probably. I wonder if Monster is just too big of a modpack for my computer to handle?

As soon as you start building anything large and complex, it doesnt really matter how tough your computer is. Your performance will drop considerably. But if it is bad even before you really get to that point, then yeah you might want to consider a smaller pack or at least trimming down the pack a lot.
