What I'm amazed by is that the Pentium is 130 dollars cheaper.I would hope so. the Q9400 is a Yorkfield, several generations old.

Yeah, that was a pretty hot chip once upon a time. It was fairly pricey when it was new and cutting edge. Since that time, the process for creating quad core dies has been refined, and further improvements like FinFET transistors have made it's successors more powerful and cheaper to produce. Moore's law, and all that. What I'm amazed by is that the Pentium is 130 dollars cheaper.
Thanks, As i told you yesterday i am using ibuypower so I picked a good motherboard from there, You have a good suggestion for an upgrade though. I also went with the 770 and i am going to buy the computer either on black friday or near christmas to get the best deals. This is my custom PC's mother board-

GTX 770 can take care of business and if you really wanted yo could dual SLI two latter (with the right motherboard....), just need a better power supply. I would go with at least 1k to get started with a gpu like these. Also that Motherboard can hold a ridiculous amount of RAM. Right now I have 16 gigs, but it is super simple to install 32, but at that point you should just get a server.
Make sure that mobo has good slots though for customization latter, it would suck to want to add something but have it restrict you. Nice! 770 is what I have as well. Thanks, As i told you yesterday i am using ibuypower so I picked a good motherboard from there, You have a good suggestion for an upgrade though. (I put the flyboys official trailer in the razer chat)
I just had a peek on ibuypower, haven't seen them in years. Their price difference between the K variant and standard CPU you've chosen is $40. You can buy them on the internet at the same price as the other. This is what people are trying to tell you when they're saying build it yourself. They gouge you on the price of parts, and then charge you a premium for one of their "experts" to slap it together for you. Thanks, As i told you yesterday i am using ibuypower so I picked a good motherboard from there, You have a good suggestion for an upgrade though. I understand wanting a warranty, but all of the parts you're buying carry some kind of manufacturer warranty that is far longer than the 1 year parts warranty that comes with ibuypower's crap.
One last time and then I'm out, but buying a prebuilt (gaming) PC is bad news. You end up paying more, and getting less in quality.

I have to agree. Along with the fact that it is cheaper it is also way better of an experience and a learning process. Also Newegg to me seems better than ibuypower.
The only difference you'll see is more dollars missing from your pocket. That is a very real difference, and not worth buying one "just to see" imo.I agree, I have built computers before and i do build computers, I just wanted to see the difference with a prebuilt PC
Unless you expect something way better I would say dont do it. And dont expect something way better, or even a little better. You would always give more time, effort, and caring into putting together your own build than some guy getting paid to do it over and over again.I agree, I have built computers before and i do build computers, I just wanted to see the difference with a prebuilt PC
Mine is not overclocked. So it is slow. I know that it can be overclocked to very fast speeds though I love the G3258. So far one of the best sub 100 dollar gaming CPUs on the market."Slow"
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel Pentium G3258 @ 3.20GHz
And that's not even overclocked. Overclock and you can get the performance of an i5.
I'm am not a most gamers. All i want to play on this computer is minecraft. I have a great computer that plays watchdogs at high fps on high settings. I want to make a computer that is dedicated to minecraft.Mine is not overclocked. So it is slow. I know that it can be overclocked to very fast speeds though I love the G3258. So far one of the best sub 100 dollar gaming CPUs on the market.
I myself have a very old PC that just retired this summer. 8GB of RAM AMD Phenom 4 and a GT 280. It was a beast of a PC, but only lagged on Minecraft forcing me to upgrade. You can ask some of my tech friends who have 10,000 plus subs on YT and they will agree that FOR HIS BUDGET a 970 would go great. All I can say is atleast remove the GTX 760. It will become outdated very soon.
Also, remember I am recommend the 970 because it is more future proof then the 700 series. I am not talking about performance it is more about making the PC last for a long time. The 970 has some great technology in it that is very beneficial to most gamers.
You're missing his stated goal; to create a Minecraft dedicated machine. Minecraft does not require a powerhouse GPU. It requires a strong CPU, a decent amount of RAM, and virtually any dedicated GPU will do.Mine is not overclocked. So it is slow. Thanks, And yes i can back you up on the more CPU and The Not 4 Titan Z cardsYou're missing his stated goal; to create a Minecraft dedicated machine. Minecraft does not require a powerhouse GPU. It requires a strong CPU, a decent amount of RAM, and virtually any dedicated GPU will do.
It pains me to see the bad little myth of a "balanced" PC is still alive and well. I've seen it for years, "You just need a crap CPU and the most expensive GPU you can afford and then BAM instant killer gaming PC" and it's simply not true, and doubly so for a Minecraft machine.
The g3258 was practically outdated at it's launch, it's only saving grace is it's overclockability. Not saying it's bad, but it's just funny that you're touting this processor while using the phrase "future proof" in the same post. Mark my words sir, in 6 months time the g3258 will be completely irrelevant. Socket1150 is dead, and there is no such thing as future proof.
but don't get me wrong, I would agree with you more if OP planned to play anything but Minecraft on the machine, but it's clear he doesn't.
Sounds like a plan. I think the 760 is fine, but I would highly recommend the 770 if it available. What is the PSU efficiency?I thought about the suggestions for a while and i decided to change some stuff
Thanks for the help everyone
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - 2GB
- CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4790K Processor (4x 4.0GHz/8MB L3 Cache) With IBuyPower 10% Overclocking
- PSU: 650 Watt - Thermaltake SMART SP-650
@PhoenixSmith Get on razer or something its not important
Can you give me some reasons to change to a 770? And the PSU is 80 Plus Bronze (Not optimal for Overclocking)Sounds like a plan. I think the 760 is fine, but I would highly recommend the 770 if it available. What is the PSU efficiency?
Bronze is fine and overclocking is more about wattage than efficiency. The GTX 770 will increase performance because it has more CUDA cores, VRAM, and its chip set is newer and well built. Can you give me some reasons to change to a 770? And the PSU is 80 Plus Bronze (Not optimal for Overclocking)
