Why is everyone so bloody eager to update all the time?
For me it usually means lost progress and i'm too frustrated to play for a few weeks because my server decided resetting the world would be fun

My reason would be because 1.5 vanilla mc comparators are extremely awesome, and would be even better in combination with the various ftb mods.
I'd do my own 1.5 pack, but I absolutely don't want to lose frames >_>

Because the cool stuff is always in the next version! New is always better! Bug fiexs!

Also I guess some people get annoyed when they realize that it's the same mods keeping FTB back every time.

Sarcasm, or...?

IMO it's been all downhill since 1.2.5. They still haven't sorted out all the issues "the merge" introduced. If they concentrated on bug fixes for a while and then just left it I reckon we'd all be better off.

i think alot of people (me included(but i've made my own pack)) stop playing when they hear the new about an update they feel no point in building stuff if it's going to reset soon. others just feel like they need a restart but they might as well wait for an update.
the problem is ftb have delayed it for several weeks and the waiting people are piling up. people get bored and want to play but they don't want to have ftb update just after they have started. so they wait (or build their own pack). thats why people want the update badly. even if vanilla adds no useful features, or maybe even no mods add anything, people don't want the risk of resetting in the middle of a play though/build

I hate starting over, but I've long since moved on to 1.5.x with my own modpack. My big concern is that FTB will continue to wait for RP2 even after the 1.6 release.

I absolutely HATE starting over, IT just means falling into the same routine and clocking another 24H dicking around mining and stuff
Also i don't really like 1.5, I can't disable that thing with the holding down right click "Drag placing"

Another thing is that RP2 is just Too damn usefull, not sure what i'll do without red alloy wiring, Among other things

Pretty much this. The last time my group's server reset, I basically didn't play for weeks because I didn't want to go through the tedium of making everything all over again. About the only thing that's gotten me going this time around is I started bee breeding and exploring Buildcraft some more. Resetting does nothing but guarantee another couple weeks of work just building up a decent base for power and automation, and that is boring!

I also hate to create new worlds, waste time on the first few days getting first items and stuff...

As much as I love RP2 I have stopped holding my breath on that one.

Sometimes it is best to just to let go.

this is when I say to the world (not to you specific):

Told you so!

I've always said I'd rather wait for RP2 but since Slowpoke and crew already said they would push 1.5 out without it I'm not holding my breath that it will magic pop out of the wood work.

I would love to see it back for 1.6 but that is really in Elo's court but will little info to go on I can hope for it. That is about it.

But this whole sooooooon for 1.5 is starting to get old. Its not killing me I got stuff I can do. But it has basically killed my FTB plans until it does come out.

1.5 was a big, good, useful update. Hoppers, comparators, light sensors, and pressure plates are all Good Things™ that Vanilla desperately needed.[DOUBLEPOST=1369340765][/DOUBLEPOST]

Well you know you've been welcome on RR since before RR had a server, Saice. You were actually the second tester to log in!

As for Redpower, even if it does come back will it ever be the mod it was to the community? RP2 set a new standard of quality, consistency, and visual appeal for the modding community. And then mods like MFR and Thermal Expansion (especially TE) have taken up that challenge and gone even further.

For Eloraam to compete she'd need to grow her team. The standard of "great mod" has just grown by leaps and bounds in the last 8 months to the point where for a big mod like RP2 to be "great" it needs more eyes on it and hearts in it.

Yes I do know. And I do plan on poking it once I do some reading on the mods you got on there.

But I do really enjoy posting projects to the FTB forums and for that I do want to use the offical mod pack.

But good news Slowpoke and crew were nice enough to post an up date... No no not on here... no not on their twitter... its over on Reddit yeah I think that is a little silly.

I want to clarify something about the 1.5.2 pack. It is currently in a state where it is made, working and uploaded.
There is currently an issue with syncing on our download repo, and we are working hard to get the issue sorted. Stay tuned, the pack will be ready soon, but we cannot give any ETAs for obvious reasons.

I wonder if he gets access to a special Mystcraft build or if he's going to ship w/out it? Cuz all that holds RR from 1.5.2 is Mystcraft right now.

I have a problem with starting over:when I start over I do it as quick as possible but that increases the chances of die in hot lava and loosing all my usefull things...so I start over again and it happens again and...you see my point.

The funny thing is, people seem to want to watch what I am doing even though it's not strictly vanilla FTB.

Nothing wrong with that. Interesting packs are by their vary nature interesting. Once I figure out what you got and do some reading I'll most likely poke it some more.

I just personally like to use the official pack while doing the project posts I've done before on here. It means anyone looking at it can do the same thing just by using the launcher since there is a large number of users of FTB that have no clue how to configure just one mod let alone multiple mods to make a pack work.[DOUBLEPOST=1369343265][/DOUBLEPOST]

Don't start over because of dieing. Losing everything on your person does not make you lose everything you have in your base. Starting over because you fell in lava puts you farther back then if you just stayed with the world you had and rebuilt what you lost.

so rage quit go play some <your FPS of choice here> and when you calmed down load your world back up. You will be better for it because you can start by punching trees again or you can just start by re crafting your star pick. I assure you the time you save only get better then longer you have been in world.
