FTB Sudden LAG! (Please Help!) - FIXED!

Hello guys,

I've got a really big problem with FTB, it was working fine days ago, maybe some lag as my PC isn't that strong.
I was playing on it one night, everything fine and lag-free, but I woke up next morning to find FTB extremely laggy.
When its on the actual launcher its fine and the same with the "FML Is Loading" thing, but then the problem starts. Right at the "Mojang" loading screen and so-on. once on the title screen it's at least 5 seconds before I can actually select something!

But I finally somehow manage after like 5 minutes to open my world to find that I can't even open a door without ridiculous and unplayable lag - 1 - 5 FPS! Please help, I have tried lowering my settings down like this:

Render Distance :: Tiny
Brightness :: Moody
Performance :: Max FPS / Balanced
Music :: Off - (I don't think it really helps lowering the music)

If anyone can help or has the same problem please respond here, I really need help, I haven't been able to play FTB for about a month!

I'm also wondering if this is virus or AVG related, because I've tried reinstalling FTB and deleting the files but it still was as laggy as ever so please help if you know what to do or have any help.

Please really respond ASAP!

Have you tried deactivating your antivirus? AVG commonly flags programs as malicous even when they are not. Did you or anyone else preform any actions that could have changed how your computer functions(e.g. install new programs, or uninstall anything)? Make sure you are not leaving any other programs open and that no one else is logged in to your computer. Have you noticed any slowness on your computer outside of FTB? Make sure FTB is installed on your desktop.

Has your hard drive suddenly got near full ? Harddrives need a certain amount of free space to move stuff around.
Check something isn't running in the background.
Also try making a new world to see if it's ftb or just that particular world save.

Hey.
Thanks for your quick replies and I'll try do what you said,
Also, yes lag has been occurring outside of FTB, for instance on vanilla minecraft and Ace Of Spades if you know what that is?
I've tried making a new world but nothing has changed and no-one has been on my PC or downloaded anything I'm quite sure :)
There is possibly one program which is "Tenebril Ultra-speed 360" - which is a scam program and I probably caught it of a website with fake downloads.
Tenebril has been popping up all the time warning me about something like 200-300 threats but my AVG hasn't detected anything.
My FTB Launcher is on my desktop and I might need to clear my hard drive.

I recommend that you visit geekstogo.com and have your computer cleaned of malicous content(they work for free so it can take up to 3 days). See if that resolves your issue, then post in this thread again to inform everyone whether you resolved the issue or if you still need help.

try unistalling that Tenebril Ultra-speed 360... If it's not listed in the "uninstall programs" section then use the search programs and files function for any trace of it and delete it manually. It's what I would do anyway.
But try to find an uninstall option first as you might be able to get rid of it in one click...

Those sorts of programs make money by generateing false problems. ie: using up all your cpu and ram in the background and saying you need to purchase their software to sort it all out.

Geekstogo will give you a step by step procedure, so it will not be technical at all. You will just have to follow instructions. Try what Molten is suggesting then if it doesn't solve the problem, or even if it does I recommend you get your computer cleaned by someone with experience. I use geekstogo because it is free and reliable, but this also means it is slow. Having one malicious program on your computer suggests that you likely have more. You could always backup your computer and reinstall windows(which I don't recommend) then copy your important files over. Reinstalling windows might not even remove some of the more advanced malware. You will not have to buy a new computer because almost all malware is installed as software(meaning reinstalling windows, or having it removed will fix the problem). In a worst case scenario you would just need to buy a new hard drive, but from what I can tell you don't have a serious infection.

- I deleted that stupid "Ultra 360 PC Speed-Up" and it worked great and lag-free!

It's been telling me continuously about these so called around 200-300 problems and how I should pay to fix it.
I certainly haven't paid for their made-up threats to fixed as my money is definitely not going to fixing those so-called problems and what-not.
The main thing is it's a scam and has no purpose on the internet! :)

That's what I was getting at. Honestly, you don't need all these extra things that are out there. They're just clutter lol

Oh yeah, sorry.
I do try to look at the comments I get but occasionally I get distracted or something gets in the way :(
I'm still trying with NEI as I'm a bit worried about losing stuff, currently I'm backing up my world :)
