Hmmmmm... other than modular, are there any other powered armours in the pack? I'm trying to work out what armour to use in stead of modular. Being protected from some things but not others is rather annoying and I could do with switching to something else, at least until I have more resources that the armour uses.

If not, what's the best way to protect against arrows? Skeletons are the most annoying thing right now, since my current weapon can one shot any common mobs not in armour.

having problems with a lack of OreDict support

I use a mod called Auto Ore Dictionary Converter. Simply hold anything from the ore dictionary in your hand, type "/odc add" into the chat window to designate that version of ore as the ore you would like to use from now on. From that moment, all related ore will instantly convert to the ore you were holding in your hand. From the mods website - "Example - hold a thermal expansion copper ingot and run /odc add. Now, all other types of copper (railcraft,ic2,etc) will be converted whenever you have them." — http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...ft-mods/2473000-auto-ore-dictionary-converter

Jotato's Quantum Flux Battlesuit is the strongest armor in the pack, reducing all damage to zero so long as it's complete and charged. Use an RF Entangler and carry a Quibit and it stays fully charged all the time, though—if you have the power. It has creative flight, speed boost, night vision, and other boosts but no step assist. I prefer not having step assist since I find it jarring, but maybe there's a belt or amulet somewhere in there that will do it if you really need it.

I think our server's host is almost done updating everyone to Java 8, and I've got the 1.0.2 pack running under 8 on my Mac without problems—except for the graphical issues, but that's solved by hitting F3-T once per session. Once the pack updates again to solve the many known issues with 1.1.0, I'll be bringing the Primus server up to date. I'm looking forward to it—hope the next release is soon.

So I'm having some difficulty with the teleposition sigil from Sanguimancy. The first 3 times I tried to shift right click so I could set my home destination (as described in the sanguimancy book) it teleported me under the overworld (under bedrock). Needless to say I had to quickly activate flight and /tp my way out of there. The next few times after that, shift right click teleported me to 0 0 0. At least I wasn't under bedrock, but still kind of useless. Has anybody figured out how to use this thing properly?

I think you need to click (I'm not sure if it's right or left) on a teleposer to set the destination you want to teleport to. After that it should work when you activate. I think it should show you the coords in the tooltip if it is set correctly.

The Sash of the Angel's...Heels I think it is...does up to 3 block step assist, and if you push into a taller wall it will charge up and step you up to the top (with no limit I'm aware of).

Honestly, I kind of feel like the battle suit is too good, especially since it's not all that pricy (at least in this pack). I was already pretty much invulnerable in the modular armor (I'd updated to the newest version) though the auto-feed was pretty annoying whenever I tried to pick up some zombie flesh or spider eyes for crafting (it would eat them.)

Also of interest is the amulet from aura cascade (I think it's Angel's Wings) that allows your to teleport up and down (like Open Blocks teleporters) anywhere there's somewhere you can stand. Seems like it would be good for finding caves (and getting out if you get lost.) Oh and fairy rings are hilarious. I made one with 8 fighter fairies and 7 debuffer fairies, and could basically just stand still while all around me mobs got debuffed and murdered by fairies without getting near me (even endermen...though skellies could still shoot me.)

Osmium is a good basic armor. After that try refined obsidian from Mekanism. Together with the armored jetpack from mekanism it is pretty strong. Also, a refined obsidian sword is 16 attack and the paxel is 13. Refined obsidian pick/paxel mines very fast.

I've been planning to try aura cascade and you motivated me with this post. I have looted the nodes and cascade furnaces from half a dozen villages. So, I made the book and began reading through with interest and getting excited about the steels and swords I could make.

However, getting Rick rolled this early in the morning by the "video tutorial" was less than amusing. Let me be frank, I like Rick Astley and generally don't mind getting Rick rolled. However, in this context, F U mod dev.

Thanks. I guess I can chalk that up to being up late as I didn't see the whole 'on a teleposer' thing in the book.

Can't really get a PC right now. Java 8 isn't supported by minecraft for macs yet so now I can't play any modpack that I have. (Regrowth, Blast Off, Horizons Daybreak, Infinity) Removing Matter Overdrive did absolutely nothing either.

FWIW, Minecraft runs great with Java 8 on Linux.

The Mac-using folks on my server can run with Java 8, but there are some weird visual artifacts.

I wonder if running Linux in a VM on a Mac would have sufficient performance.

I'd say none. OSX is nice due to being Linux based, but it's Apple. Linux is nice because, well, it's Linux, but as you said, lack of support is the issue. Being user friendly isn't a huge thing for me, but the lack of support is. Windows is inefficient and bug filled (thanks to the updates in my experience), but has the most support.

OS X is Unix-based, not Linux based:)

I find Linux very user-friendly, but I'm weird.

If you have to find a user-made version to use it like a desktop, and if the terminal plays a large role in any well-recognized releases, then "user friendly" is not something I'd use to describe it. ;)

Hmmmm... anyone know what types of lights I can get in the pack? Preferably ones which wouldn't look out of place in a modern military base. Trying to figure out my options for lighting, but Galacticrafts version requires Desh, and I haven't found the tier 2 rocket yet, while Electric Floodlights require power, which would be a problem if I max out power and don't realize.

Gotta be honest, I didn't do any of the tutorial stuff in the book. I did the quests because, hey, free stuff, but other than that I just read through the book, usually while waiting for things to process (I was worried about losing stuff that had been made through vortex infusion.)

I've gotta say, the cascading colorer is one of my favorite machines ever. Who doesn't love tons of multi-colored wool from a single sheep?

Wait, jaded and eya left?

But they were my favorite members of the team :c
Sorry @slowpoke lol
Does modular armor have flight?
Yeah, but you'll also want to note that if you want the jetpack, you'll also want the Calf Shields:

Quantum Battlesuit. Or some of the Aura Cascade stuff.

Try the Floodlights. they need RF, but they give a lot of light. If that doesn't work, you can also chisel torches or use Carpenter's Torches.

Hey, at least he gave a clue in the book so I could find the actual video, he names the youtuber. I'm a visual person so videos really help me.

lol, I placed the colorizer next to my sheep pen and within minutes the farmer was overflowing with colored wool. It was really funny because a brown sheep had gotten in when I originally made the pen and bred before I could stop it and I spent some time angrily killing brown sheep so they were all white. :/

Karma.

Yes, but it requires a nether star. The armour also only protects you from certain enemies depending on what modules you have installed.
Nether stars aren't too difficult and in fact you can farm them.
- You can use soul shards to farm Wither Skeletons at a nether fortress (to make a wither skeleton spawner)
- You can enchant weapons until you get one that has soul steal (this one multiplies the amount of souls that get put into a soul shard, which makes skeleton farming much faster). You can enchant weapons without needing to spend levels using an EssentialCraft Magical Enchanting Table.
- Other mob heads can also be transmuted into Wither Skeleton Skulls via an EssentialCraft Mithrilene furnace
- With a lot of obsidian, and some sapphire and glass you can create Sapphire Glass which is wither-proof. With enough Sapphire glass, you can completely trap and farm Withers with minimal danger and no damage to the surrounding environment.
- One EssentialCraft ring (randomly found) will generate additional mob drops, giving you an extra nether star for every Wither killed

You forgot to mention sticking a skeleton spawner in a cardboard box, taking it to the nether, and setting up a wither skeleton spawner (which is what I did to fill my soul shard.) Much quicker than relying on random wither skeletons spawning.

Didn't know you could do that. That is awesome.
