As none of you know, I am very uncreative. I want to build a super cool DIFFERENT base. (I am on unleashed) I am looking for rubegoldberg machine ideas, different or less commonly ways to get materials, cool base design(preferably modern since its ftb), non- AE storage and other stuff. As you can guess I am fairly endgame, and I'm just building this for fun/functionality. I'd prefer if they were self-maintaining. Things I don't have and might not want to do : Bees.
Basic/simple stuff but not included to Quarrying,AE, Mob grinders, Solars.....

Thanks everyone participating

for a "modern base" design, you could look at BdoubleO100 and the house he built in vanilla, that may give you that more modern look.

If he wants to build something that someone else suggests, who cares whether it counts as being "creative" or not? And I think it can be called creative, it's just that he didn't do the initial idea part, someone else did. He can creatively interpret someone else's suggestion.
Again, if you copy someone else's build, it's not creative. Unless he makes major changes.

What are you arguing about?

I seem to be arguing about something that I don't really care about, to wit: someone's opinion on whether something is creative or not. Nonetheless, he's asking for ideas, not entire builds to copy verbatim. Honestly, he's said that he isn't very creative, why do you feel the need to reply to him asking for help with "that isn't being creative"? If I can't climb a tree, and I ask for help because I want to enjoy the view, I don't expect someone to say "that isn't climbing".
Because copying builds isn't creative.

I would try and build out of some exotic block that's not vanilla eg - steel, tin, copper etc. You could also try building underground or in a void age.

You develop creativity through experience. You can jump start that experience by allowing yourself to be inspired by other people's work.

Geez, things are just black and white to you aren't they? You can look at somebody's build and be inspired by it, that doesn't mean you copy it block for block, it means you get a general idea how to build in that particular style or fashion and then you put your own twist on it.
Just like I said earlier...

There's nothing wrong with looking at other people's builds, you find the things you like and don't like, and then you feel inspired and are then able to build something in a similar style but with your own twists. All of the builds I make are always inspired by other people, I could never do things like I do anyway else.

build a giant golden phallic statue and live inside it. Bonus points for milk fountain.
Bonus points for liquid meat fountain (They are quite hilarious to build).[DOUBLEPOST=1378246442][/DOUBLEPOST]

Let me get this straight, having inspiration is considered uncreative to you? That's weird, because last time I checked every amazing artist since ever has been inspired by something. Inspiration ≠ uncreative.

No no no. I said if they changed their build and made it theirs it is creative.

Don't plan. Just start building and see where you are when you're finished. Except for ones like: Oh gods, oh gods, it's dark and I need shelter NOW. I rarely start with an idea of what I want in mind. I built my 1.4.7 wizards tower with no real plan, just a cool location by a river, and some Silverwood Trees. What I got was a tower sunk into the side of the river bank with a sloped glass roof, and window across the front so I could look out at the water. I had nothing in mind but a tower to perform my magic in without interfering with my main base.

You'll find that if you just start working and let it flow naturally you'll find yourself incredibly inspired. Or you'll end up like Direwolf and unable to resist repeating the same thing over and over again. :D

Except you didn't. You are saying that being inspired by someone elses build it isn't creative, which it is.
Uh... I'm confused, maybe I said something wrong here...

No, I said copying someone's idea isn't creative (or, at least, that's what I meant), and I also said that making changes to that idea that you came up with IS creative (again what I meant).

Sorry for any confusion or offense to anyone I might've caused...

This is what keeps me from watching DW20, every season is the same thing, but with slightly newer/different mods. He makes his modpacks well, but man his videos get boring.
