Kinetic and solar generators are good if you balance your use of energy right, but there are many times where you will need more energy that they can supply.
The only time that has happened to me was when using an electric wrench to remove 80 recyclers. Since I was doing that about 20 blocks from a chargepad it wasn't an issue. :)

Man, these new heat mechanics. Brutal.[DOUBLEPOST=1366789020][/DOUBLEPOST]

You know what? No. I'm not caving into your multi-title peer pressure. I get like 400 downloads a week of that video and people trying to reproduce it (even though it's no longer possible).

It's too bad I never published the video of what you could with with a maxed out pickaxe tool with efficiency 5. You could quantum dash through any wall; even an obsidian one. You became a human mining laser. That was even more ridiculous.

It's dumb because, as you saw, it nearly killed my server every time I did it.

And when I can figure out how to select custom models for my modular powersuit, I'm going to make one that looks exactly like stone blocks and make a new video and then creep up on WayOfTime over and over.

You ... you monster!

When you get the energy shields, the energy can start to drain really fast.

I went to the twilight forest's Minotaur labyrinth, an the combination of the slimes and cows there made quite a number on my 5MJ battery.

Early on, the mining gauntlet can also become quite the energy consumer, with 1 KJ per block, when you needd 5 blocks worth of travelling to recharge that.

Energy shields are just a matter of not going Rambo just because you have an energy shield. :) Just use the first section of tunnel you clear/light as a jogging track to recharge your suit.

Manual mining withe gauntlet can definitely drain your batteries but I don't do much of that after my first handful of diamonds.

Never having to manually recharge the suit is the main reason I use it over gravisuite/quantum. I can fly around my void age all day long with no time wasted standing next to an MFSU. No worries about somehow dropping/losing any of my armor taking it off to recharge---something that did happen to me with my first gravisuite chestplate, doh. I can fly around raiding lost libraries indefinitely, etc.

Mining wasn't ever really a problem for me. Mainly because I don't like too much increased speed. In fact, I am rather pleased that I can tune the pick independant from the shovel. What annoyed me the most about IC2's diamond drill was that getting rid of one block of dirt was next to impossible because it dug too fast! My power usage for mining was so low that moving pretty much kept up it.

Yea, I don't have any of my tools cranked up to max overclock. In fact, my axe and shovel mods are at minimum power usage, and my mining module is just under half-capacity (somewhere around 15x). Simply because I don't *need* it to go any faster.

I find that the kenetic generator is easily all I need for my suit, although I threw on a solar helm module for the free energy, even though it doesn't contribute much.

You don't really need that 30x speed multiplier, since after a certain point that speed boost won't actually change anything. Then again, this mod is fully modular, so you should give everything a try until you like it. For me, around 15x speed works perfectly for all tools (it used to be 8x with Efficiency in 1.4.7, but that enchant doesn't work anymore in the 1.5.x builds! Aaaaargh!).
As for the energy shield, it has seriously never given me trouble on my total 12.5 somethingJ power.

that..wat. I don't even know how I would do that. Am I going to have every other mod's api included in mine by the end of this? D:

BTW: I am starting to think big...MPS is, after all, a mod about miniaturization and portability...maybe it's time to explore the other side...

This is why your strategy of letting external plugins do the work is exactly right. The answer is, "No. But a plugin could do this and that'd be wonderful."

For example, what if you could have a dimensional door drive that let you enter into a custom Dimensional Door instance! It'd be a Ride Home feature.

Awesome. The Tron Beam for buildings, I hope.

Y U NO USE OMNITOOL? ;)

I don't have energy shields yet, and I prefer to use a silktouch pickaxe (actually I don't have the pickaxe module installed yet :p) so I think most of my powerdrain is from sprinting around my base. I have a hv chargepad which takes care of any charging needs quite nicely though :D
Dave's WoT-trolling ideas are awesome.

Is it possible to gain the invincibility like the quantum armor?

merge:
Does weight only affect movement when it passes 25kg?
What is the math behind it, thanks :)

It's actually 26kg, I believe. Either that or the difference from 25 to 26 is so low it's almost impossible to notice.
Anything less than 25 leaves you at normal walking speed, anything past that makes you progressively slower. I've never bothered trying to get as heavy as possible to see if there's a limit to how slow you go, though.
Also, if you've got Power Pants you can add the sprint assist module to it, which lets you walk faster if you so wish (thus, negating the speed penalty).

why do people keep spreading this '26' number? I even made a video on youtube to clarify. I hate making videos. It's definitely 25.
...Then I guess I'm too dumb to notice any difference.

I don't even know where I first read that it was 26kg instead of 25kg.
