These mods are still in development and not ready for FTB, they will be added "soon". You will not require a new world. Continue playing and wait for them :)

Since RP2 adds lots of worldgen items, you need to clarify Strictly speaking it may be true, but for many and perhaps most purposes it's not true.
The only world gen missing is tungsten and Nikolite. The developers are working on a way to merge these in.

What about the gems and the volcanos?

Also where did you read this about the devs? I haven't seen this said before.

The ore dictionary helps with the gems, another mod (gregtech i think) adds them in. Otherwise the same applies.

Volcanos will probably errupt.

All of this was mentioned in the launch stream.

Admins are saying use myst worlds to recover lost stuff, quite frankly if you want to do that then fine, I have a feeling most, like myself are waiting until the pack is complete.

ahref ninja'd my post, a point worth considering is gregtech and RP gems, they use the same ones, where RP seeds the gems everywhere, gregtech puts gems in certain biomes, so what's going to happen there?

Triple edit, I asked in #DW20 irc channel since a load of mod devs hangout and was told the gems would be seeded everywhere.

Where did you get this information? As I say, this is the first time I have heard this said.

I ***HATE*** the developers/maintainers making critical communications through livestreams, its the modern day equivalent of overhearing a conversation.

If this is a true things (maps will be updated) then it needs to be writ loud and clear in an informational post here on the forums or on the website.

And basically, whilst I believe you heard what you heard (i.e. I am not calling you a liar) I don't actually believe it, FTB devs need to make an official announcement, until then I will keep advising people to play but be ready to re-start once RP is released. Quite apart anything what happens if a volcano erupts in my base?[DOUBLEPOST=1353524967][/DOUBLEPOST]
Gems: GregTech.
Volcanoes: Aesthetic, so.
But many, like me, as per many recommendations when it comes to GregTech, disabled GregTech before I even gen'd my map.

They wont make it happen in your base. Usually new terrain can be added in as new chunks generate ie you explore. They can't release information on it because there is none. RP2 will be completed by eloraam and then there will be info on the worldgen required. At the very least mystcraft solves your problem

Right, new terrian gen is new terrian gen, so they wont be updating maps at all.

Anything they can say in a livestream they can write down, either the livestream contained the information you claim, or it didn't. You cant claim to have heard information that doesn't exist.

What mod adds Volcanoes? I searched 2000 blocks out from my base in every direction and can't find any.

RP2 adds volcanoes. However, despite what a previous poster said, they're not just aesthetic. They're the only way to get basalt. Of course, I guess the only reason to get basalt is for aesthetics... hmm!

You forgot to mention that it's a readily available source of Lava for a Geothermal Generator.

Why so mad?

The mod pack is beta; things can and most definitely will change. Such is life in beta. The people who know exactly what changes the mods will bring to world gen are Eloraam (blog is down, twitter info is lukewarm... she doesn't update by the minute, so it's ready when it's ready; she's also been really busy with RL) and Azanor (have you seen the size of his information thread... he updates frequently). From experience with previous mods and mod packs, the easiest solution is also the simplest; don't get attached to what you do yet but remember the seed if you like the world.

Slightly more involved solution? Don't explore too much of your map (minecraft will generated new chunks based on world gen it has, so by waiting to generate those new chunks you get a chance to generate stuff you missed... of course, I could be thinking of Bukkit there since that's what we did for to add jungles/emeralds to an existing popular server....) or be prepared to go leaping into books (seriously, MystCraft makes multiverse solutions easy....). It's really not all that much of a hassle if you're so attached to what you've done so far you don't want to just reset the world.

Finally, when did they make the rule that anything they say in live stream they should write down? Often times, they are either working (for free, btw, on the their mods or packs... to add features or squash bugs... many have a real job that actually pays their bills... free hint - not the live stream) or blowing off steam by playing a game while chatting with their friends/fans. Neither activity lends itself well to self-transcribing every word that may leave their lips that may or may not seem important. Honestly, they have better things to do (like work) than to go back through their own content to write those things down. If someone wants to watch through DW20's youtube stuff and/or Slowpoke101's archived live streams and transcribe all of that... power to them.

TL;DR - World gen changes happen. Either be prepared to reset your world or generate new terrain/ages.
